So some time back I was gifted with a Rolex from an investor friend who I managed to make a lot of money for. I never wear it, only time I do is if I'm wearing a tuxedo which is rather rare. Its kind of a wasted gift on me especially because I hear they can be rather valuable. I wonder what mine might be worth.
@freemo Probably need the reference number for it. Engraved in the outer ring of the dial in the bottom position probably.
@freemo that is quite the gift. The "perpetual" is a valuable complication. Unfortunately these things can cost a lot to be serviced. Rolex is a damn cartel, and I don't say that lightly.
I'm not good at estimating watch values, but here I go anyway: $3-5k is your floor, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it valued well over $10k.
@freemo having said that, I neglected the chonometer and rotating slide bezel. That certainly adds value, and it's very fun (for nerds) to learn how to use.
@Beef
Thanks that is quite the chink of change.
@freemo
If, like me, you believed that Time is An Illusion, then it is worth the value of its component metals, melted down and sold as scrap.
Then you can simply get a $5 digital watch to help you live among the apes who believe that time is real and thereby make it to meetings before they start.
@freemo If we're going by "The Price is Right" rules, I'm guessing at least a dollar 😂
@freemo use it. It is a cool watch.
@pthenq1
Yea i will use it at anything super fancy where my normal watch might seem out of place. But im all about the tech
@freemo recently watched a segment where they stated Rolex prices are through the roof. Seek a reputable dealer for an estimate.
@freemo Hit it with a hammer. If it shatters into a million pieces, it was priceless.
