Ahhhh good ol' american thanksgiving, the most hypocritical of holidays.

@freemo I am truly thankful I can afford to buy some turkey and a whole crap ton of stuff to add to it. Yep ... Though I do like to eat turkey, I think it's a bit excessive.

refugees? No motherfucker we CONQUERED shit and killed those fucking injuns and it was awesome and we built the greatest country on earth.

@freemo
I haven't celebrated in years. I'll probably post a thanks post, but that's about as far as I go. I'm not attached to this country at all.

I'm close enough lineage wise to my Italian immigrant family that I am eligible for citizenship. If I could afford it, I'd get out of here.

@warkittens my family celebrates, but its more about family than anything to do with the USA or the native americans.

If you can get out of the USA please do... RUN

@freemo
The red tape in Italy is notorious. There's a specific class of lawyer just to process these citizenship papers. It doesn't seem like a lot of money to folks who aren't shittily paid lab staff but I won't have $5k to $10k laying around like, ever.

@freemo tbh itโ€™s just an excuse to feed our gobs. The original meaning has been lost like Christmas and nobody wants to really think about it. If they do they drown it with alcohol. Itโ€™s murica. Yeeha!

@freemo @ambihelical That’s exactly what it is and it’s best if you don’t think about it too much. ;-)
