@freemo I can think of a few others... DeSantis and RFK Jr. are really bad too.
@LouisIngenthron They are pretty bad choices, no doubt. But like i said id take pretty much anything over Biden or Trump.
@freemo I'd take BIden over either of those. At least he's relatively predictable and is vocally supportive of democracy. That second one is my baseline requirement that the others fail to meet.
@LouisIngenthron I dont need predictability. Supporting democracy would be nice, wasnt aware we decided to make that a thing again :)
While I normally lean left there are three things Biden has done that I just dont think I can stand for:
1) He has been abusive in his stance on guns
2) He has flamed racial tensions and has an abusive history as a racist
3) He is fiscally irresponsible.
These are a bad time to have those qualities. My only comfort is the right-leaning SCOTUS which, while im not happy with the bigger picture at least they are able to put some checks on it. My hope is they will find a bunch of gun laws unconstitutional...
@freemo @LouisIngenthron There was also the jab that the previous presidency had seen. Both presidents supported the jab. The first real field test, protected against harm to individuals and shoved through the FDA.
I can understand the benefits of testing technology on the public but it didn't have to tank our economy.
Are you saying you are against the vaccine (really?), or just dont like it got emergency use first? Or dont like the shutdown of the economy.
The last two points I can agree with, but being against the COVID vaccine overall, especially now that it is not emergency use anymore, that one is hard to take seriously.
@freemo @LouisIngenthron Oh I forgot about the question. I don't believe in getting unnecessary vaccines and COVID is next to the Flu. Tetanus probably has helped me more times than I know. Rabies would be the only additional vaccine that I would get right now.
There was also an HIV Epidemic declared in my area by the CDC before big COVID made everyone forget. I'm disappointed.
Elected officials should be held to their oaths with punishment of death by firing squad. Corruption will erode our freedom and potentially destroy our country if left unchecked.
Incompetence is also worth mentioning for obvious reasons like the economy, internal relations and the damage done. Airlines are protected from being called terrorists that use biological weapons. If only something as old as the word Quarantine could have prevented this.
COVID is certainly a good deal worse than the flu. Survival rate is somewhere around half, but long term complications are much higher. That said I do agree it is much less serious a disease than rabies or tetnus.
I dont personally care if someone is vaccinated or not. I can vaccinate myself if I want, thats my business. But I do think you are a making a bad decision if you dont, not as bad as skipping out on a tetanus shot, sure, but still a bad move.
Bodily autonomy is a sacred right. The way I see it no matter how much sense it makes to get the vaccine no one has a right to force it on you. Your body, your rules.
@freemo @toiletpaper @LouisIngenthron I was working in the heat for the past few days and my head just hasn't been right. I thought I could make a joke about the vaccine and it would be great.
The first Rabies death from a fully vaccinated man occurred recently so we might be seeing new Rabies guidelines. Perhaps the reporters exaggerated. With the Rabies vaccine, one has to maintain a minimum amount of antibodies. Maybe his count was too low to fight off the clinical path but his antibodies increased.
