Prevention is worth it.

Engaging stories, challenges to authority, creating contradictory explanations, reconciling disparities are all reasons writers write.

Using ChatGPT, one gets a sense of participating in a Turing Test in which the domain is high school essays.

It seems our culture has suffered a disintegration of the quality of the information we use in the last generation. Reason is waning. Hypocrisy is waxing. Rationality is rejected.

Problems also provide students with experience solving problem with critical thinking (making decisions about the appropriateness and completeness of their solutions), creativity (using existing knowledge in new ways or reframing the problem in a new way), and practically (using knowledge to create solutions that are needed and that are deployed).

Earn a doctorate and you will lose all hope of finding the correct answer to what interests you.

We know that WEIRD (Western, educated, industrialized, rich and democratic) perspectives dominate in social expectations.

If we could agree on what it is important for students to know, we’d be almost there.

If all students need us superficial knowledge, then the teacher doesn’t really need to be an expert. I’d much rather have classes taught by experts.

Labeling students… doesn’t help.

“Teachers are more likely to leave the profession now than in previous generations.” We really can’t be surprised.

"Being successful" means something different given the recent decades during which digital technology, globalization, climate change, and other trends have changed the nature of society and culture.

@freeschool Yeah... it seems notifications from Mastodon have been intermittent recently. I'm scrolling through me feed and seeing lots that I did not know was there!
