Have you seen this one? Before & after of a brain after a 20 minute walk — illustrates why walking to work, or school, or just to get the intellectual juices flowing, has been strongly linked to better creative & intellectual performance.
Just one of MANY benefits of choosing to walk, for you and for society.
Design and build walkable cities.

Article looks at pay increases in U.S. and Britain. They are on average below the rate of inflation, not causing it. The predatory price increases are down to disaster capitalism on behalf of corporations. theguardian.com/business/2022/

As an old timer who's been here a WHOLE MONTH before this week's joiners, here's some tips:

1. Hashtag everything but in #CamelCase to make it easier for folks who use screen readers.

2. Boost everything you genuinely love - only you can see your likes.

3. If you follow loads of people, your Home feed will be an endless source of personally-tailored loveliness. And the algorithm is YOU!

4. Have a nice cuppa and a biccie.

5. Ignore all these tips - NO GODS, NO MASTERS

rtutor.ai/ <-- very fun to play with "generative stats", writing #R code through #GPT3 ... requires some knowledge of R and #statistics, but potentially great for people who use R every few months and then google for the commands and libaries again; thx @StevenXGe@twitter.com

R is now widely used in every branch of science. However, learning R can be stiff for students without prior exposure to programming and computing.

RTutor is an AI-enabled tool that can be used to learn R easily. In RTutor, you chat with RTutor to analyze data and perform visualization using R. RTutor uses a language model for understanding your requirement and writing the R script.

#introduction Hey y'all 👋 I'm currently a research assistant in the Hoban Conservation Lab at the Morton Arboretum. Researching how genetic markers impact ex situ conservation metrics/how genetics can inform conservation.

Constantly learning about #Linux and #R. Interested in all things conservation science, while also acknowledging that many solutions to the crises we face are not best addressed through scientific research.

Hello, Mastodon world!

I am a newbie here and looking for folks interested in #digitalepigraphy #Epigraphy #archaeology #ancienthistory #longduree #openscience #FAIRdata

I am a #postdoc at Aarhus University, Denmark & Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, working on ancient Greek and Latin inscriptions and the messages they convey about the ancient Mediterranean communities.

I work primarily in #R and believe in FAIR and Open Science. Find me on #github as @petrifiedvoices

Nice example of how you can use AI #chatgpt #gpt3 to generate #R code, I think a lot of easy/standard code will be written this way in the near future rtutor.ai/

“It's well-demonstrated that you can't build your way out of traffic congestion by building roads — the more you build, the more people drive. As the saying goes, building more lanes to address congestion is like loosening your belt to address obesity.”

A new study confirms what we have reported before: The rich are different from you and me; they emit way more carbon. The research out of the United Kingdom shows where they emit it—a lot of it comes from flying.

The study raises a lot of questions about where we have been putting our efforts in reducing emissions. While we are busy telling people to take shorter showers and turn down the thermostat, the study finds the rich drive excess energy.
