i boosted this site earlier but i think it deserves more explanation. this is a search engine for images that shows you the copyright status for the image right there front and center and you can filter for them. for instance i grabbed this copyright 0 image of an echidna from there. and it even generated a citation for me: "Echidna on the move" by CazzJj is marked with CC0 1.0. i think this is a really easy way for getting a reference image while ensuring the person who took the image consents to its use! https://openverse.org/

Tesla has received a lot of taxpayer dollars. They should have to open these chargers to the public. Right now, they enjoy a dominance of virtually private chargers at the taxpayer’s expense.
@edgarmtoro apparently governments used to build houses and help start coops. I'd be really interested in seeing that start up again.

Leader of #Scotland resigns. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-64648879
Absolutely gutted that Nicola has resigned. She has been an excellent 1st Minister of Scotland. Covid19 showed us exactly how good a leader she was. She was on TV every day from March 2020 giving us clear and concise information. The difference between her handling of the situation and Johnson's was like night and day and unlike Johnson, she never hid away when the going got tough. An intelligent woman who will be sorely missed by many in Scotland. Good luck Nicola for your future ahead ❤
“Do you want us to start selling off your valued universal health care system now, or would you like us to continue wrecking it for a little longer first?”
The framing is designed to hide the third option: fund the system so it works.
Anything so that people will be distracted from a simple fact: the profit in ‘for profit’ comes from somewhere and it’s either the quality of your care or from your wallet (by tax or service charge).
It's okay if you don't have the headspace to be outraged about the same things on repeat or, worse yet, another new thing.
It's okay if you don't stay up with the news.
It's okay if you only post or view landscapes and animal pics and faces in things.
It's okay to make space for yourself.
It's okay to take care of you. Whatever that looks like.
A lot of the New Materialism and post-humanism multi species literature focused on symbiosis and co-evolution: “we are all lichen”. This makes sense as scholars think of rebuilding out of capitalist ruin. But historically we find other kinds of multi species encounters that don’t necessarily evoke this kind hope. What are the best articles and books focused on species with amensalism relationships? Or looking at the negative consequences of invasive species? #histodons #envhist
"We could have used this pandemic to level inequality, clean the air, reduce viral illness & death, make work more accessible.
Instead we are using it to push privatized healthcare"
