Old Missile Bunker for sale, ex-US Air Force

@design_RG 12 acres is a lot. could turn it into a venue space for a festival. maybe music festival, or something more generally celebratory like burning man. would be awesome to turn it into a more positive space. i wonder how big the underground silo and bunker is, and if it still has electricity and running water too. could maybe turn that into a concert hall, or possibly do some vertical farming or storage too

lojong, training in compassion and kindness, tonglen

i've recently taken a more direct interest in lojong. it's a practice that helped me a lot with g'mah, and it goes hand in hand with zazen or other types of meditation and practice as well.

specifically i enjoyed tonglen, which is a practice of sending and receiving by meditation. the meditation is to use the deep and slow inward breath to take in suffering and transform it into joy and on a deep and slow exhale we radiate joy back out. it's a practice that focuses specifically on raising our capabilities for compassion

the practice is used to strengthen resolve in normally uncomfortable situations. something like being in the presence of someone on their death bed and feeling uncomfortable so you don't know how to behave or what to say. or like me dealing with g'mah and her dementia.

there's some cool reading about lojong and tonglen around the internet. i ended up picking up a book from the library that was decent, but the language felt alienating sometimes, so i didn't finish it. but i kept reading around the internet and watched a few talks by pema chodron.

@design_RG nvm, i was wrong. i know mastadon api/webview never offered translation, but fedilab (the mobile client) offers a translation through yandex or deepl. i thought the option was removed, but i missed it going through the settings, and i just found it

why is there no longer a translate option in fedilab?

made a ghobi chana masala today. didn't feel like making naan, so i just went with some jasmine rice i have. they didn't have basamati rice at the local grocery, but the brown jasmine rice is healthier anyway

politics, global protest wave, cyberpunk, revolution of our times

the people of the world are uniting and rising. the revolution is not being televised. iran, iraq, pakistan, spain, france, ecuador, haiti, bolivia, chile, rojava, lebanon, hong kong, palestine, u.s., england, ireland, brazil, algeria, egypt, sudan, honduras, peru, indonesia, russia, netherlands.

it's incredible to see so many people stand in solidarity with each other and share their experiences with the world, but also actively taking on the challenge of resistance, pursuit of self determination, and standing up for what's right.

many of these protesters are met with extreme forms of violence by police, official military, paramilitary, or state funded gangs. there have been many casualties and wounded, but a lot of progress is being demanded, won, or taken

cyberpunk is now, and many people are fighting for a better future. many of the protests around the world are centered around anti neoliberal imperialist policy that is destroying the earth, our home. there's a lot of outrage against constitutional, economic, or law enforcement policies as well.

i stand with the rising people of the world. i'm so proud of them, and they inspire me and make me feel proud of who i am and have been too.

i'll be around, just getting settled again

@design_RG i know a good late night cabby spot if you can scoop me up and buy us some grub ^-^

the more you know. music history is a beautiful thing

c.c. rider is one of those really old, old, old blues songs. no one knows who wrote it, it's just been passed down for almost (or over) a century now. it's a good tune. i believe the oldest known recording is 1925 by /ma rainey/, but do correct me if you find an older one. it's like the song /sweet home chicago/, no one knows who wrote that song, it's just been passed down through the years. the original take on /sweet home chicago/ is actually a song by scrapper blackwell (1928), and it's a song about kokamo indiana. but even before blackwell picked up the song, it was passed down

@design_RG yea! nom nom nom. i use the budgetbytes.com recipes because they're efficient and cost-effective, but it's all very similar, just slightly different process and time that goes into it. i really wanna do the food works recipe i found, but the recipe calls for a pressure cooker. i think the pressure cooker is only to soften chic peas, so maybe i don't need if i use canned chic peas
