They want to remove a feature, but fear backslash, so they make it hard to find and use, so people stops using it, so they can use their stats to prove nobody uses it, so nobody wants it, so it is removed without a fuss.

La verdad es que los alemanes están ahora con un acojone realmente importante.

Entre que su dependencia del gas ruso se ha convertido en dependencia del gas estadounidense, que militarmente no sólo dependen de EE.UU. sino que tienen una burrada de soldados estadounidenses repartidos por el país en decenas de bases militares y que Rusia les sopla la nuca, y que tienen la economía que lleva más de un lustro sin levantar cabeza, porque sus coches no se venden. la verdad es que empiezan a darme penica.

De los grandes de Europa, es el que menos está en posición de llevarle la contraria al amigo americano, y probablemente el que más necesita mandarlo a freír espárragos.

The economy is very important, too. But it goes two ways: US economy would go to hell if all its allies were to broke commerce with it; starting by big tech.

The rest of the world started putting up with Trump craziness hoping it were like the flu and would pass. Besides, cutting ties with the US takes time. Now, they are becoming aware that it's the way things are now, and they have to say no to his nonsense.

Trump have been bluffing all this time, and people is starting to call him on them and isolating him.

The US became a superpower by creating a global network of alliances, and Trump is demolishing them just when the US need for it is more dire.

Well, if the US wants to become a has-been, it's their problem. It's going to take a long time and a lot of effort for us to cut ties with it, but clearly we have no choice anymore.

And don't even doubt we are doing it.

UK and Spain's history is very similar. Both had big empires, they lose them, now are middle powers.

The advantage we have in Spain is it happened to us a century or two before, and we fell even lower.

It takes time to acknowledge the fact you are not a superpower anymore. Brexit made very clear the UK are still digesting the fact.

Since we are poised to have China and probably India as the next two main powers, as Trump is making sure the US drops out, let's hope Russians and the US take it easy. It doesn't look likely, seeing what they are doing now. Well, one can dream...

Lo más alucinante de lo de Irán es que EE.UU. es precisamente uno de los países a los que el cierre de Ormuz le afecta menos. De hecho, el impacto directo en Europa viene a ser el doble que allí.

Entre los más afectados (indico porcentajes de petróleo y gas que compran y pasa por ahí) están Japón (90%, 11%), Corea del Sur (58%, 30%) o India (43%, 57%). Aparte, están un montón de países a los que esto les está dejando sin fertilizantes, siendo el caso más extremo Sudán (50%).

Lo de Japón es peculiar, porque por causa de Fukushima llevan como 15 años aumentando su dependencia del petróleo, y están ahora debatiendo volver a la energía nuclear. Imagino que en un país con tan poca superficie y tanta población, la mayor parte de energías alternativas no son tan efectivas como en otros sitios, y traérsela de países vecinos tampoco es muy viable, viendo el mapa.

Por otra parte, esto son impactos directos. Indirectamente, si todos los demás tenemos una subida de costes brutal, EE.UU. se acabará encontrando con una subida de precios de todas sus importaciones igualmente brutal.

¿Quizá esta es la forma de Trump de compensar que no le dejen subir aranceles?
