La Comisión Europea ha pisado el acelerador. Esta semana ha recomendado a los Veintisiete que desplieguen su app de verificación de edad antes del 31 de diciembre de 2026, y España figura entre los siete países pioneros junto a Francia, Italia, Grecia, Irlanda, Chipre y Dinamarca. El argumento oficial es proteger a los menores. La realidad es que Bruselas está construyendo, pieza a pieza, la infraestructura de identidad digital del continente.
El sistema exige vincular pasaporte o DNI al teléfono. La app responderá a las plataformas con un sí o un no, pero el credencial subyacente es tu identidad gubernamental. Y aquí asoma el problema serio: en abril, el consultor Paul Moore tumbó las protecciones de la aplicación en menos de dos minutos. La Comisión parcheó lo más visible y ahora declara el producto «listo para producción». Una vez tendidos los raíles, no se detendrán en el «mayor de 18». Vendrán mensajería cifrada, prensa, opinión incómoda. Lo llaman protección. Se parece más a un punto único de control.

I understand that they are not concerned about the massive job losses this technology will create. I get it.
I understand that they don't worry about the evisceration of privacy rights and the mass collection of personal information. I get it.
But what I don't understand is how anyone can ignore when the world's leading Al scientists tell us that, as Al becomes smarter than humans, it could operate independently of human control - with possible catastrophic results.
Given that oligarchs, like all of us, have families and live on planet earth, I can't understand how they continue to recklessly go forward with an unregulated artificial intelligence they don't even understand.
Greed and making money is one thing. Laying the framework for destroying the planet and human civilization is another.
There is plenty of people saying the USA is not even going to have free elections anymore. The fact that the Republicans are doing everything they can to rig them says otherwise. Of course, an election with a ton of gerrymandering, voter supression, etc. is not exactly free, but Hungary has just clearly demonstrated that Trump could be dethroned if there is a modicum of freedom in the elections. Of course, that requires honest public servants and a lot of people's effort, but it can be done. People fleeing hinders that.
So force is not the only one thing that can overcome modern fascism.
The only battles you are doomed to lose are the battles you concede before they are even started.
The worst enemy of freedom is defeatism.

A mí los de Osakidetza me desviaron para una operación menor a la privada, y para más inri una clínica que estaba a una distancia mayor de mi casa que la que están al menos 4 hospitales públicos.
Recuerdo que al llegar les tuve que autorizar para que vieran algunos datos míos. Pero, claro, si no tienes libertad para decidir, el consentimiento es claramente una tomadura de pelo. ¿Cuál era la otra opción? ¿Que me dejaran pudrirme?

@latiase @pes_maravilla @LibrosPrestados Puse una reclamación en Atención al Paciente pero a lo del tema de ceder datos me respondieron la vaguedad esa de liberar listas de espera y demás y lo de que de faltaban 6 meses para lo mío y que no había necesidad lo ignoraron por completo. Al menos sí cumplieron que no me han vuelto a derivar a nada a lo privado desde entonces.

@latiase @pes_maravilla @LibrosPrestados En mi caso el colmo fue cuando ¡6 meses antes! de una prueba en la pública que es anual me llegó un mensaje de la Quirón de Vitoria para decirme que llamara para confirmar la cita. Flipé mucho. Osakidetza les pasó mis datos a la Quirón porque sí (¿cuándo he dado yo permiso para eso?) que además tenían mi expediente médico (para comparar con las pruebas anteriores) y sin necesidad ninguna pq aún faltaban 6 meses.

Vultures eat anthrax, botulism, rabies, & cholera for breakfast.
Their stomach acid is among the most corrosive in the animal kingdom, with a pH around 1, low enough to dissolve the bones, hide, & pathogens of dead animals that would kill almost anything else.
A vulture eating a diseased carcass isn't a vector for disease, it's the end of the line. The disease chain ends in the vulture's gut, & that's pretty hardcore.
When vulture populations crashed in India in the 1990s, rotting livestock carcasses sat where vultures used to clean them.
Feral dogs and rats took over the cleanup, both of which actually do spread rabies. Researchers later linked the vulture collapse to roughly 500,000 deaths in India over the following decade.
The same collapse is now underway in sub-Saharan Africa. 6 of 11 African vulture species are threatened with extinction, primarily from poisoned poaching baits.
The animals nobody finds cute are doing more public health work than most of the species we actively protect.

"An eye for an eye" has always been a terrible way to make friends, and nothing a civilized person should tolerate. Israel policy has always made that phrase really meek. But we tolerated it, and that proportion has grow so out of bounds no person with a modicum of empathy or decency can defend it anymore. And you can't have security when everybody despises you. Israel's policies are not making Israel more secure; they are making sure Israel will never be secure, at least not this century.
The fact that some of that permeates to innocent Jews everywhere only makes things worse.
