Let’s make one thing clear:

Words matter.

The early days of the pandemic showed us that if the government wanted - they could do more to take care of us. They could provide a universal basic income. They could accommodate the needs of disabled people who had been pleading for remote healthcare and other services for years. They could keep people fed, safe and housed.

They didn’t WANT to. The moment they thought they could tell you to get back to work - they did.

In order to facilitate it - they stripped back data and access to tools for Covid while telling you it was over and/or mild.

How many people are sick this holiday season? Either with an acute infection or with debilitating chronic illness that followed their Covid infection?

Why can’t we access tests, free respirators and accurate data about cases and hospitalizations/deaths? Why don’t we have clean air in public spaces?

Because they don’t care about us. They know people will die and become disabled - but they’re rolling the dice that it’ll be mostly those “others” that they don’t want around anyways. They’re banking on it not being so many people to impact THEIR way of life - which is all they care about.

People should be radicalized by this. We can do so much better. Inclusiveness is possible. Caring for one another is within our reach. We can hold our leaders to a higher standard.

Until then - the best thing you can do for those around you is wear a mask.

Wikipedia is a problem for Musk/Trump. Not, as Musk says, because it's "woke." Because it's one of our last reliable tethers to a consensus reality. Therefore, an antidote to disinformation.

It's not making anyone money. It's not enshittified. Of course it's not perfect—it's an endeavor of imperfect cooperating humans. But it needs protection and support.

Recomiendo encarecidamente no contratar el seguro de hogar con National Netherlanden (ING). La cola de la DANA me rompió el tejado y eso ha provocado goteras en mi casa y filtraciones al vecino. Pues dos meses después se han dignado a responderme por teléfono, sin enviar a nadie y me dicen que no me cubren nada. Solo lo del vecino pero antes tengo que pagar yo el arreglo del origen de la filtración.
