Even change the data to fit the theory, if no one is realistically going to repeat it. And, experiment repeaters tend to be of lower scientific social status. So, in your team's word against their's, you will likely still win. Its not like people actually get in trouble when caught either, unless it seemed intentional.

But, active school shootings have not increased. Non-active shooting as a side category has increased dramatically. The definition of non-active continues to broaden and includes such things as being caught with a weapon, having made possibly idle threats, or even "acting suspicious".
