WASP-39 b is a planet unlike any in our solar system – a Saturn-sized behemoth that orbits its star closer than Mercury is to our Sun.

The observations with #JWST have provided a profile of WASP-39 b’s atmospheric constituents, including water, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, sodium and potassium. webbtelescope.org/contents/new

Ahhhh good ol' american thanksgiving, the most hypocritical of holidays.

We are approaching my favorite time of year for photography, where Lake Superior creates otherworldly scenes like this. I can't wait to get out for it.

Bird app

Seeing Trent Reznor and Jack White leaving the bird app (per rolling stone) brings joy to my genx heart

So I trolled my business partner today with the image that was floating around where someone photoshopped my company's team page (where I happen to show up).. They photoshopped my avatar from here on there...

I sent it to the company's group chat as an image and send "company page all done, updated"... needless to say he thought i was serious and he lost his shit for a good 30 seconds before he realized it was photoshopped.... soooo worth it.

Squinting at a graph is fine for getting a rough idea of the answer, but if you want to pretend to know it exactly, you neeed statistics.

I enjoyed this far more than I probably should have.

Mastodon is perfect for GenX because we’re all just roaming from house to house totally unsupervised and unless something goes really wrong nobody cares #GenX

A new study reveals hundreds of years of volcanic activity may have helped transform Venus from a temperate wet world to the acidic hot house it is today, boasting temperatures around 864 °F (462 °C) on average. Learn more: go.nasa.gov/3GxfE1D

Why is the #night #sky never completely #dark ? The reason is because of #Airglow. This #APOD #photography was taken from #Tibet after a giant #thunderstorm over #Bangladesh, which "heat" the #atmosphere. The atmosphere then shined, a bit like an #aurora, but due to chemiluminescence (from a chemical reaction). #Sunlight is also a source of airglow.

In this #picture, we also see #gravity waves.

“Then the spaceman took over the bird site so we all started tooting at the elephant place.”

“Oh…ok grandpa. Let’s get you back to bed.”

Understanding #Mastodon gets easier once you get the basic idea that federation between servers can be understood as homeomorphisms across hyperplanes between the Riemannian manifolds of toots, whereas the servers represent countable finite sets of discrete entities.

Seeing how much people moving from twitter to here complain about minor inconveniences really sheds some light on why IT corporations spend millions on UX and then milions again on advertising their UX.
