@Kovaelin
Stickers are so cool! But I want to get a new laptop.... XD
I like my laptops on the nude, pretty as they were made. But then, Thinkpads and EliteBooks are soooo good looking, lol.
Love them. Typing this as most of my fediverse content, on my oh-so-lovely HP EliteBook. Best computer in the house.
Full Aluminum, military-spec chassis design. And it's years old but kicks the ass of most new models.
@design_RG
I think on my lenovo those stickers look really good tho! I might send pics someday.... But not now
@Kovaelin
@design_RG
Mine is very old thats why I am considering buying new one

I see. Depending on where you are, you might be able to get some great deals on off-lease hardware.
here in my region, I can get Business class IT gear for quite low prices - people use t for 3 years, then get new lease and new gear.
Big names and loaded, well built machines. Not consumer grade, those came with full 3 years warranty to start with. And yet, now they are cheap -- too many of them around.
Great for buyers.
@Kovaelin
@design_RG
Sounds very nice but I dont have contacts nor knowledge...
@Kovaelin
@Kovaelin
I dont have enough money to buy nice thinkpad....
@design_RG
@design_RG That's an amazing deal.
@design_RG
What.... That sounds too cheap
@Kovaelin
Honest to God. That is including sales tax -- it was $225 CAD before tax, free shipping. And it came perfect, packaged so well.
I wanted to send one overseas to a friend, and the quotes I got, shipping only were about $350 CAD. So, impossible to justify.
I am telling you about this kind of deal because many people don't know about them. In the USA there's even more. In Europe it could be more expensive, but it's such a lovely place to live that I wouldn't mind paying the extra costs.
@design_RG
Ye.... You are right... Its more expensive but er dont have things like in america.... I can't even complain
@Kovaelin
@design_RG
Central Europe.. Not even Germany where you make 3 times the money than in my place
@Kovaelin
@k11m1 CAD hasn't been great lately, so it's good to have options here.
My brother bought a laptop off Kijiji a while back. Sometimes, you encounter rich people just offloading their old (but sometimes still in the original packaging) gear to make room for new toys every year.
@design_RG @k11m1 Fingers crossed for lucky deals or price errors!
I would shop on that site or similar ones, there are few companies in Toronto operating this kid of thing. You can't beat the price or quality of their offerings, althought we could get lucky with Kijiji.
I got 3 Dell PowerServers from there, unbelievable price, I just had to buy all 3. Too cheap to pass.
Those are rack mount, RAID disks with hot swapping if needed, dual Xeon processors and loads of slots for ram. They are a bit noisy and suck some electricity so not for casual play, they are sever class, IT machinery.
The Thinkpad T500 I mentioned is an older model, but I love the design and couldn;t resist the price either. It's running well and the rubberized black coating is so cool.
@design_RG If I had Stateside contacts, I'd be ordering more stuff online for sure.
@k11m1 @Kovaelin just looked at their HP Elitebooks and they are a bit pricier, the Thinkpads W are better deal.

Mine is similar to the first one in the list. This company is legit, I have purchased from them before.
@design_RG
I would Luke to get some light laptop because my current one is heavy and on battery it doesn't have ... Long life... Also it has just i3-380m and that thing isnf even stock...
@Kovaelin
@design_RG @k11m1 It might be worth waiting if you can right now, since AMD has been showing it's a threat to Intel. So, things might finally start to take some leaps ahead again with processors.
@Kovaelin
T495 is on amd
@design_RG
@Kovaelin
I like to see competition, many years ago I built and sold systems and offered all kids of alternatives as a lower cost option. Then AMD started to get crappier in rating their processors close to the max possible performance, while Intel ones were usually rated at less, and could be pushed if desired.
This is a long time ago, so things have changed, 20 years or so. But I have been mostly on Intel systems, a few older machines still here (I hate scrapping them) have Athlon 64 processors.
@k11m1
@k11m1
Got a nice one -- with an i7 processor, 8 GB ram, 256 GB SSD.
How much ? 250 CAD, about 180 USD or so.
