@mitch I gather from context that a word gutter means something like a vertical block of words that all end or begin at the same horizontal column? When I searched, I got a lot of stuff about setting gutter margins in Microsoft Word.

The closest I get to "design" is adjusting my LaTeX documents to eliminate overfull hboxes, so I think your assessment of different uses for different scenarios is probably on the money.

@mitch pretty much. You might as well ask what's the utility of starting a new sentence with a capital letter - it's not strictly necessary for comprehension's sake because it doesn't add any information; it's just one of those rules of the language that makes it easier to parse. Raw text is commonly composed and edited in fixed-width fonts, too, so many of the same considerations apply.

@mitch I spend far more time typing raw text than word-processed documents. It's not just old muscle memory; I'm actively reinforcing it every day. About the only context in which I don't put a second space is when using a phone keyboard.

@mitch Then the bit upthread about Catholics and Protestants isn't really accurate. Catholics are definitely amillenial - in their theology the millennial kingdom already started at the time of the resurrection of Christ. Protestants differ by denomination.

Perhaps with the benefit of hindsight, one could identify the millennial kingdom as the Roman Empire beginning with Constantine making Christianity the state religion and ending with the fall of the remnant Papal States in the 1860s-70s, contemporaneously with the coming of a new Manifestation. Obviously that interpretation would pose some problems for Christians though!

@mitch this makes me think that the Báb's message was, at some level, "Erm, God's coming here later today; you might want to start cleaning the place up so you don't look like complete slobs when He gets here."

@freemo yes, I'm in and I can access my files. Thank you very much!

@freemo I know you have it working now - but in case it matters, my username there is also khird. My login credentials are email + password, so I never had my username memorised and couldn't recall if it was khird or kyle.

@freemo okay, thanks! I was using TOTP, and it lets me log in partway now (I get blocked at a screen saying the instance is in maintenance mode, which I assume is related to your fix). I expect once you've finalised your process it should be working as expected for me.

@freemo Hi just following up here - I'm still unable to log into Nextcloud using 2FA. Here's a screenshot of the error message I get, in hopes it may be useful.

@emarktaylor@thecanadian.social @cfl more to the point, when the call is "Unnecessary Roughness - Horse Collar Tackle", how does the coach challenge the call of Roughing the Passer? I'm not sure UR is even eligible subject matter for a challenge.

@freemo could you please screenshot where the option to generate new codes is? I went hunting through the settings menus but couldn't find anything. If there's a workaround like that available, then I can manage as-is indefinitely and you can tackle the underlying problem at your leisure.

@freemo it's not especially urgent - a day or two would be a comfortable timeframe, and a week workable. My concern is that if I have to keep using up my recovery codes to access it, I'll eventually lock myself out completely. I don't expect that to happen within a week.

@freemo could you please look at the 2FA setup for the Nextcloud server when you get a chance? It gave me a weird message that 2FA was configured but not enabled, so I can't log in except with recovery codes (of which I have only a limited number); and now that I'm logged in, I don't see any settings to reset or disable it. Thanks!

@mitch the picture of when you were working on it reminded me a bit of the view from the bottom of the terraces of Carmel. The shed peeking out over the top just needs a golden roof!

@shayman do you think not? My impression was that the coastal climate would be better. Snowier, maybe, but beats a forty-below fumblefest on the prairies.

@lapingvino my problem isn't that I can't install the fonts, but that falling back doesn't seem to work. For example I have some perso-arabic fonts installed, but I still get tofu when I come across it on a webpage, because my latin font doesn't have those characters.
