You encounter a situation with no dress code or social expectations.

It's too warm to comfortably wear both long sleeves and trousers, and two cool for both short sleeves and shorts.

Do you opt for short sleeves or shorts?

Idea: get the loved ones of a person who has dementia to put their speech into a voice "AI", so that if they aren't contactable (or dead) the person with dementia can still "call" them and thus the caretakers can avoid a frusterated patient

It would be so hard to be a speaker of second language and then get all your emails caught in spam filters

Could someone please tell me what the benefit of Tetra-pak drink containers are?

That does it, I’m going to have to start walking around with a pair of secateurs and giving myself the headroom I need to not take a detour onto the lawn.

Being tall is hard and I wouldn’t normally complain but these are dropping down to block the path of even the shortest of adults now.

Surely there can’t be legal repercussions for me doing a little trimming, right?

@sabbatical and I remembered to try it out while looking up a recipe for traditional sangria. 10/10!

While stats on numbers of people joining a religious group are interesting, I would find it more interesting to see stats on the number of people dying while in alignment with their sect

Hearing other people gossip about the slightest thing that someone has shared about their personal life sure makes me never want to share my own life with people

Every once in a while I have the thought that I wouldn't hate being vegetarian. And then I grill a steak.

I'm very curious what municipalities might do if pressured by people with electric cars who do not have on-property parking at their homes

@freemo Aha yes, both apply well! I hadn't thought of looking at it that way

apparently if you type cooked.wiki/ before the http of any recipe webpage, it will load a stripped-down, ad-free version

Is there a rule name (in the style of “Dvorak’s Law” or “Hanlon’s Razor”) for the idea that “the encryption wasn’t compromised, rather there was a man on the inside”?

@sabbatical It's a spool from 620 film.

620 film was made between 1931-95. It was meant as an alternative for 120 film (made since 1901 and still made today) and the film itself was the same size. 120 film has a slightly larger spool made of plastic.

Since the film and the paper it's attached to is identical to 120, one can respool a fresh roll of from one spool to the other and that enables me to use my 1950's Brownie Hawkeye camera
