I have to guess/assume (guessume?) that doing it with an ice cube and then removing the remainder when the soup is at a kid-friendly temperature ends up diluting the soup less… even if that's not true it sounds reasonable enough to be why our parents did it that way

If you want a shelter to be accessible and feel like the best option for a person who is trying to pick the least-bad option, you put it somewhere well-connected by not-car transportation.
