Canadian friends, if you haven't already written to your MP about Bill C-22, do it today! https://dontsurveil.me/c22.html
@sabbatical This whole process is definitely a downside of the self-hosted small federated instance model
This is a fascinating idea and I think I'm in favour https://taskandpurpose.com/tech-tactics/president-nuclear-authority-kill-heart-fisher-protocol/
@kcdills The funny thing is, my parents are still on the same ISP they were on when I got my first email address as a kid. Their second overall I think (and at the same location).
@sabbatical Hmmmmm I think your theory sounds right!
Your user count point is a good one. That's making me reconsider things…
@sabbatical 90% sure I'll switch to beige.party I think. The name is tipping the scales over other options I've looked at

I'm pro-homeschooling for all the reasons but I find it super weird when you ask someone what grade their kid is is and they respond with something like "we don't do grades"
Well then tell me what grade level they are doing schoolwork at. Or what grade you tell the authorities they are taking.
Or 12 - (number of years until being done). Because that's what I actually want to know half the time—the other half being how many years have they been a "school aged kid" for.
To be fair I've only heard this maybe twice in recent memory. It just sounds SO WEIRD when I hear it.
Gotta love a vintage webpage that is still useful https://porkmail.org/era/unix/award
