Tired: "there's no good in being right and dead"

Wired: "there's no good in being an innocent deathbringer"

Do you say papier-mâché—you know, that craft of making 3D figures out of shredded paper and water with a binding agent—as PAP-ee-ay MASH-ay or PAY-pər mə-SHAY?

Shania Twain's grandfather, a Canadian soldier, fathered a child with a French refugee while in the Netherlands because of WWII. Fast forward to now and he's a reasonably well-known country artist

Why hasn't Shania Twain done a collab with her uncle yet‽ I don't think I've ever had an opinion about country music, let alone country musicians, before.

The people who actively enjoy "AI slop" media are subconsciously admitting they don't have the mental energy to imagine what the thing could be for themselves. Surely there's a time and place for it, but I don't need 🤖 to make a pop punk song based on texts from your boyfriend in order to appreciate that the texts sound like the kind of music a teenager who wants to feel like they're dramatic would listen to

"When you have a moment" is almost as bad as "ASAP"

@sabbatical beige.party is a great name haha

It's funny, I don't follow a single account on any of those four

@sabbatical yeah I've been thinking the same thing. I've had instances.social/ open for days waiting for me to make a choice but I haven't gotten around to it yet

Today I had a weird realisation that, as a child, every time my mom told me that what I was inappropriate or whatever* it subconsciously taught me that I should just not share my thoughts.

* according to her interpretation, and not me intentionally being inappropriate

Let's make sonic tourism a thing. What's a place mentioned in a song that you have visited in part because of the song?

The most frustrating thing:

1. Someone asks for help

2. I help them but not right away

3. Turns out they found a solution and my time spent preparing to help them was wasted

I don't mind the fact I spent time on it because often I learn something or provided a better answer than the person found for themselves (not to mention if it's in my day job I still got paid), but I can't seem to find a polite way to teach people "I'll get to the question but please tell me if you solved the problem yourself"

I find an explanation of why someone is thankful to be much more effective than saying a literal "thanks" but I feel like when I don't say "thank you" people are offended that I'm not thankful
