Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !
I hope to get to Black history soon, but I'm still working through white US history. There's so much of it!
Q: Why are Black people in the US so much more likely to die in traffic accidents than white people? Are Black folk more likely to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI)? Is it street racing? Are y'all just bad drivers?
A: Hmm. I'm stumped! No one knows the answer to why this happens! Just kidding. It's racism. It's always racism.

@stroughtonsmith Thanks Steve! I’m working on Retro Arcade for Watch, a game compilation that also works on iPhone. I currently have four games available inspired by Gyruss, Asteroids, Galaxian and 1942. Built using SwiftUI and SpriteKit https://apps.apple.com/us/app/retro-arcade-for-watch/id1667674066 #showcase
Today I'm opening up the first public beta testing group for the big update I've been working on for Pedometer++. It is a complete re-write in SwiftUI, with new iPhone based workout modes and robust mapping support. It also provides a wide array of Live Activities including putting a live route map right on your Lock Screen.
Any and all feedback greatly appreciated.

"Toxic masculinity" doesn't mean that masculinity is toxic, any more than "rabid dog" means that all dogs are rabid. Some masculinity is toxic, and some dogs are rabid.
If you're comfortable with your masculinity, you get to be a better dad.👍🏿

Today's uncovered #SwiftUI gem: ShareLink. Perfectly renders a control view for sharing using the OS-specific share functionality.
(Also, Text views interpret Markdown?! That's so cool!)

People worry a lot about losing knowledge — about "burned-down libraries".
Comparatively few people seem to worry about what happens if you take a billion books full of auto-generated, often-untrue junk text and *add* them all to the library.
In theory, nothing is lost. In reality, everything is lost, because nothing useful can now be found.
California drivers take note: You are now required by law to change lanes when you pass a bicyclist, if you can.
The same “omnibike” bill that made that change to the law also stops enforcement of bike-license laws, which is good because “some jurisdictions have used [bike-license laws] as an excuse to harass youth and BIPOC bike riders.”

@paolamata @schwa @lorihc On top of what the others said: the EPM is the interface between engineering and everything else. They have a good knowledge of what can, or not, be done, and it what timeframes. They shield the engineering teams from absurd requests. They ask clarification of requirements before engineers get stuck in the ambiguities. They make sure what product management is asking is realistic. In essence: getting the answers to the questions they know will need to be asked.

Good morning, the empty bookshelves in Florida schools keep my head busy, since I'm a teacher with a library in my classroom in Berlin myself. That's a history lesson in front of our very eyes and exactly how fascism started in Germany. Books were banned and then burnt and everyone said, well, I can't do anything, I don't want to loose my job, I don't like it, but... Many little steps were made by many little people who didn't stand up against a new little rule. You know how this ends.
