I’m being admitted to the hospital again for one more procedure. Again both hips. It will be simple and I’m putting all my hopes this one will help me a lot. Cross your fingers for me. Have a drink or whatever you enjoy and a great weekend.

@stopdesign @tantek.com interestingly, TrackBack was designed before AdWords or Adsense existed, so there wasn’t authentication because there was no financial incentive for link spam. Google changed that and foisted a spam tax on the whole rest of the internet that eventually killed TrackBack.

Please tell me there's a clip of this that I can link to. If there is, I'll post it asap. So good.

After becoming a regular daily errands-and-commuting cyclist in NYC for a few years now, whenever I get in my car to go somewhere ...

... the sheer weight and size of the metal around me seems positively *sci fi*

I mean, cars?

They're basically MECHAS. Right?

I cannot keep this to myself. There is a website (radio.garden) where you can listen to radio stations all over the world for free. No log in. No email address. Nothing.

When the site loads, you are looking at the globe. Slide the little white circle over the green dots (each green dot is a radio station) until you find one you like.

I have been listening to this station in the Netherlands and it absolutely slaps. I have no idea what they're saying but the music is fantastic.

Tech is the funniest industry and it always will be.

It's a bunch of people who think they are creatures of pure logic, but every problem they try to solve turns out to be a human problem that is inherently illogical.

The results are endlessly hysterical.

The primary complaints about Gen Z ultimately boil down to "They refuse to work shitty jobs for shit pay" and "They're too nice to people who are different". Which says just as much about the quality of the older generations as the quality of the new one.

If you’ve built apps with SwiftUI, that’s great! But if you’re thinking “this job is not for me because I haven’t learned SwiftUI yet,” that’s probably not the case.

The Watch Frameworks team is growing, and we're looking for another SwiftUI Frameworks Engineer! This position is working on SwiftUI itself, so Swift and UIKit skills are more useful than experience building apps with SwiftUI. :-) jobs.apple.com/en-us/details/2

"In 2020, Americans bought twice as many e-bikes as they did E.V.s. As with everything else on climate, it’s not one story unfolding but many, and all at once."

I finally had time to write an article, so I just published a post about #SwiftUI text modifiers: nilcoalescing.com/blog/TextMod

The post describes how text modifiers are different from view modifiers in SwiftUI and how we can use them to style portions of text with text interpolation and concatenation.

The next time you hear Republicans in Congress complain about increased IRS funding, remember that the richest 1 percent of Americans evade $163 billion in taxes each year. That’s who the GOP is protecting.

There is no “justice” system.

Today, Trump Org CFO Weisselberg is being sentenced to five months jail.

On a five month sentence, he'll serve approximately 100 days.

As a public defender in Manhattan, I represented a man who was sentenced to 3-6 years (and will serve 1500+ days) for stealing a jacket.

My first story of 2023 for my Forbes column is about something so last year: it’s my review of the Apple Watch Ultra. It’s Apple’s best smartwatch to date, and no, you don’t have to be into extreme sports to appreciate it. The big screen truly is the best.

I'm only one person here, so trying to clear the backlog of content as we open the new year. I hope you'll bear with me.
