Since 5 years now, I generally commute by motorbike, but I also own and drive a car. So I have been safe while driving these, no matter where I go.
I use public transit only when it is prohibitively inconvenient to drive.
Indian here. From the capital, Delhi.
Can assure you that disdain for public transport is not restricted to America. In fact I invite you to stay for a few months here and who knows you might find a new respect for 'deathtraps' that you speak of.
In my adult life, I have been mugged some 5-6 times - each and every time while on public transport or while walking on road. Last time was as recent as November 4, 2017.
@imvectech Sure thing.
Thank you, @imvectech! I was looking up your profile and you guys seem to be doing something cool!
I agree fully @n.
But then do you know anyone whose favourite animal is #Archeology?
@freemo
Lol.
And both of them are animals.
A good thing about the #qoto instance is relative absence of cat pics (or dig pics, or... well insert your preferred aninal), compared to, say, mastodon.social, where nearly half my TL was cat pics. Not that I hate cats or have something against them, but there is more to life than cats!
@criw
Thanks! Wishing the same to you.
Fair consideration @freemo, I'll use content warnings, as needed.
Just a couple of days ago, at mastodon.social, I already had to split a post into four parts due to character limit. It starts here, if you want to check: https://mastodon.social/@Muo/100597633685644965
If you checked all 4 parts, it was an important message and the fediverse could have done its bit.
Hello #Qoto,
I am #NewHere and this is my #Introduction.
I am Madhur, an Indian engineer with many interests: chess, philosophy, maths, science, politics, fountain pens; trying a shot at writing.
Qoto's ad on the birdsite, mentioning its character limit (2^16-1) sold it to me, besides the fact that it focuses on STEM. One can basically post a decent sized novel here, or an essay, or a research paper here. I intend to use it for something like that.
One may also find me at the birdsite as @MadhurVarshney@Twitter.com, or as @Muo.
