Tutto in bici all'#Idroscalo! Passato e forse futuro?

Publicly owned Prestwick Airport will now no longer do business with the Israeli Air Force following pressure from the Scottish Greens and campaigners.
And we’re calling for further action both in Scotland and the UK. #SGPConf

What sounds does a tech bubble make when it bursts?
@kristinHenry Stay strong! Take care of yourself and your close ones. Hugs!
@madbob @lgsp io per diversi siti avevo usato http://fetchrss.com/ per fare la prova di generare un RSS. Se questo funziona, si può sostituire con un codice apposito.
@digiphile noteworthy, EU institutions have an instance at https://social.network.europa.eu/public/local
@ichderfisch @mcepl @timbray agreed. It's not websites, but user searches that put Google on their monopoly position
Couple of replies which will make you angry:
1. Being dependent on Google Ads is a nice way how to be a share-cropper with the Web application, https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2003/07/12/WebsThePlace
2. If they are truly lying, the class action lawsuit will hopefully follow.
@adamrice @gregly @ichderfisch @eniko they had the same problem that is now looming onto the fediverse: not a financially sustainable service in the long run. As historical data gets accumulated, expenses grow. Revenue to sustain them doesn't.
Wikipedia is also facing it, but probably a somewhat different scenario due to more static content.
Google have their own solution for this type of problems that we all hate: shut down the service without providing a way to export data.
Reading this is nuts. Google changed its algorithm and websites are on the brink of death. This is what gatekeeping is doing.
Hate to see it, as Retro Dodo is one of my favorite websites. I read their articles almost every day. I got their book and backed/preordered the upcoming two which might never be released now.
If you are into Retrogaming or are interested in modern handhelds, consider bookmarking their website and supporting them.

@madbob @lgsp @ItaLinuxSociety mi immagino che con meetup.com è un problema simile?
Israel's killing of seven World Central Kitchen aid workers has the makings of a watershed moment in Washington, rapidly accelerating a months-long decline in U.S. support for the war in Gaza.
Project Nimbus maybe: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Nimbus
I have a lot more to say, but I'll hold it for now and simply wonder aloud...
Which BigTech clouds are the "Lavender" & "Where's Daddy?" AI systems running on? What APIs are they using? Which libraries are they calling?
What work did my former colleagues, did I, did *you* contribute to that may now be enabling this automated slaughter?
"It is difficult to find material that is dramatic enough for Ukrainians to find funny. 'A run-of-the-mill missile attack is no longer enough for us,' [Nastya Zukhvala] jokes. 'We have to go nuclear. The other day I remember waking up from explosions and being taken aback by this big, bright light. I thought, this is it! Perhaps I’m already in heaven? Then I realised, no, Nastya—that’s just the sunrise.'" #UkraineWar #comedy https://www.economist.com/europe/2024/01/06/ukrainian-stand-up-comedy-has-seen-a-renaissance-during-the-war
@Gert the weird thing is that unlike previous bubble bursts (even crypto had some real impact), this one appears to be completely self-inflicted and contained to mindless enthusiasm. The few actual meaningful GenAI applications are quite sustainable and isolated from the hype.

@jef @webuiltthiscity Happy to report it is already happening in the EU. https://social.network.europa.eu/explore
It is only a first step, but it's happening.
