#Science #Crows #Birds Now I wish for a pet crow! Apparently they mimic like parrots too!

@marathon0 The magpie (Pica pica pica) is very curios and beautiful up close. I think can easily be trained/domesticated with treats. However, a bit big in my opinion.
Yes I've heard the magpie can be friendly to humans as a pet. Are they considered a crow sub species?
@marathon0 I am not an expert on clades, but around here (Sweden) they are "crow birds" (1 out of 5 around here; Raven, Crow, Rook, Jackdaw, Magpie).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corvinae
Corvinae is the clade that is encompasses that level. Feel free to study more.
@marathon0 Yes, I think they can be.
The rook (Corvus frugilegus frugilegus) has always fascinated me, since it doesn't move out of the way of cars if it is outside the dashed line, and one can get fairly close to and friendly with them with treats over time.
The western jackdaw (Coloeus monedula monedula) is much smaller and more suitable as a pet. Doesn't appear as clever as the rook, but much cuter.
