Might there be a glut of software engineers soon? Perhaps the pompous Birdsite employees that left voluntary will regret that decision in the near future? Just some musings of my own …

10,000 Google Employees Could Be Rated as Low Performers — The Information theinformation.com/articles/10

@obi I’m not the saviest around, could you explain to this dumbarse the significance of the learntocoalmine tag?

@marathon0

@marathon0 when coal miners were losing their jobs, mainly in WV a few years ago, it was being discussed on the news a lot. The left wing media was suggesting (mirrored by other left wing news) that the coal miners would just need to adapt, and Learn to Code. A little ridiculous, for the type of job and experience they were coming from, but they kept saying it. Then, a bit later, some journalists were losing their job, and the right wing were Tweeting them with the hastag . This got trending, and Twitter a believe banned/suppressed the hashtag and was banning people who said it to the journalists, saying it was "harassment". After seeing the twitter engineers losing their job, the first thing I thought of was well, they have to adapt, the can . Obviously a ridiculous statement, but the same thing people were saying to the coal miners.

Sorry, probably not many people would get that I guess. My bad.

@obi Ah makes perfect sense. :-)

@marathon0 In this kind of situation, the ones that stay are usually the low performers. High performers are usually the ones that end up earning even more out of the company. Low performers are the ones more likely of end up unemployed if they leave.

@jgg
I’ve heard so before. Not sure I buy into that - we shall see.

@marathon0 I agree. The situation is so chaotic that only time will tell.
