#introduction Insomnia helped me discover Mastodon tonight. I am enrolled in a JavaScript class, so I might post some things about it. I am interested in science, engineering, politics & jokes.
@admitsWrongIfProven I actually started to learn C# and Kotlin a few years ago, so I couldn't suddenly change and become messy with my code when I started to learn JavaScript 😅 JavaScript can do more and more stuff, in 2-3 years you will be happy when you meet people who still think that Java == JavaScript.

I would like to learn JS one day, but for now I am most comfortable with Python.
@maricela I did ask to not go easy on me, but it does burn a bit that you seem to have learned more languages than me ^^
Do you have a tenant abouth what "messy" means? All i have ever experienced was that customer messiness was always way more influential than whatever i wanted.
@admitsWrongIfProven Whenever I get discouraged, I open a website made by the state. Most of them are not mobile friendly and they contain so much irrelevant information that the regular user gives up and leaves the website in a state of frustration and confusion, without performing the intended actions. They are built this way on purpose, to pretend that they are transparent. Our code couldn't possibly be worse than theirs... Some of the most important pages are not even included in the menu, only Google can find them. Even paying the taxes is a nightmare, the statement that you need to fill out can only be edited with Adobe, using any other pdf editor would throw an error. I always try to keep things as simple as possible and follow the guidelines in the documentation. Users will do whatever they can to get the things done and if they managed to get what they wanted, it's still good enough until you find a better way, even though they might have done it in a "messy" way.

@maricela Welcome! I'm also learning #JavaScript / HTML / CSS at the moment. Found some excellent courses on Udemy for this with a lot of hands on practice and great resources. Great fun to learn, although the whole frontend development stuff takes some getting used to when comparing it to data science development which is what I'm more familiar with. But modern JavaScript is quite a pleasant programming language, I must say.
@walterbogers True, frontend was nice to learn, but I got to NodeJS. It isn't difficult, but it is a lot and not as fun. I try to learn as much as I can to find a job In January and learning both frontend and backend should help me do that. @maricela Cool, thanks for sharing the playlist! I haven't looked at backend development with node.js yet, might pick that up later. At the moment I'm taking some courses on Udemy on frontend development (just shared the titles in a separate toot), these are very good.
@maricela Sorry to hear about the javascript thing. Learning is good, and people that don't type their vaiables are still people, please roast me about coding in java!. Jokes check, as developers do. Don't go easy on me!
