I am hesitating between french and english for this account. Or both. I have two different Twitter accounts, one in french and one in english. I will probably have only one Mastodon account. What do you think?
Ici on peut éditer ses messages ! (enfin j'y arrive en me connectant en Web sur mon instance qui est bien sous la v4 de mastodon, mais pas depuis mon client Android...)
@joelgombin Oui. Ça viendra bientôt dans les clients mobiles aussi je suppose. Et les personnes qui ont partagé ou mis en favoris un message édité reçoivent une notification pour qu'iels puissent s'assurer de ne pas vouloir annuler leur partage ou fav, si jamais la modifs ne leur convient plus.

@joelgombin Non mais c'est bien c'est comme ça qu'on fait :). On partage le tweet d'origine et on y répond publiquement en choisissant la visibilité "Public" (alors que pour une réponse normal on devrait plutôt choisir "Non listé", comme je l'ai fait là).
C'est un coup à prendre et j'ai moi même pas encore complètement le réflexe !

@maxsol @joelgombin Traduction de quoi ? Les interfaces web et applications sont déjà dispo en français :). Si tu parles de la traduction automatique du contenu par contre, je ne pense pas, ou alors via un plugin tiers, parce que ces services passent en général par exemple par Google Translate, et jamais Mastodon ne va faciliter à ses utilisateurices l'envoie de leurs données et de celles des autres chez les GAFAM.

@marind use both. You can mark the language of the specific toot when you toot. If anyone is ‘offended’ (I’m not but 🤷♂️) by seeing non-native language toots in their stream they have tools to filter it out & keep only roots in their stream in the language(s) they want to see

@marind Je vais mixer, comme sur Twitter. Il y a quand même des français qui lisent l'anglais, des anglophones qui lisent le français (si si) et il est possible de traduire. Apparemment il y a des options de langue qu'on peut configurer.

@marind I follow many non-English speakers on twitter, and translate function for their posts were useful, especially if I could get the general theme of the content from my limited reading ability.
Some users had two accounts, one english, one (e.g. Russian). Others posted in one language or another depending on the topic.
If language preferences of what you see in your local timeline can't be specified, it could make sense to have an account on an English dominant and French dominant account. E.g. I'm seeing a lot of foreign language post on my local thread which at the moment are not as useful as I don't know who they're from or if the context is worth me reading. I can scan through English, but other languages obviously take a little longer.
I suppose I would like to see *all* posts from people I follow, regardless of language, but probably limit languages that come through the local or federated timelines.
