I had a kitten with FIP, so vet and us knew he will die. Even then you cannot expedite the process until there is a sufficient reason to believe that animals quality of life was negatively affected by the illness, as in he is in pain and distressed.
@mathlover USA.. although responses in this thread make me think maybe it's not as prohibited as I thought. You know if he put it down himself or was able to take it in to the vet and have it done professionally?
