"During systemic Salmonella Typhimurium (STm) infection germinal centers are absent, whereas extensive extrafollicular switched antibody responses are maintained. The mechanisms that underpin the absence of GC formation are incompletely understood. Here, we show that STm-induces a reversible disruption of niches within the splenic microenvironment, including the T and B cell compartments and the marginal zone."

Rarely do I post my podcast appearances. Too often, they’re all fur coats & no knickers.
Not the case here. @CMerandi & @ibdgirl76 are on point. Relevant info. Important insight. They REALLY get drugs. No faking the funk.
That's how you start an abstract:
"In the beginning it was simple: we injected a protein antigen and studied the immune responses against the purified protein. This elegant toolbox uncovered thousands of mechanisms via which immune cells are activated. However, when we consider immune responses against real infectious threats, this elegant simplification misses half of the story: the infectious agents are typically evolving orders-of-magnitude faster than we are."

From the perspective of a former study section chair, the suggested reviewing changes from @NIH look great. They are open for comments.
