We eat the green leaves of garlic when they are immature. Also whole fried garlics are a side dish for many restaurants here.
@mur2501 We buy garlic in bulbs, there's never green leaves present here. And whole fried garlics is probably a bit too much for me. :D
But I love to have a lot of cloves through a meal! Usually I'd probably add 4 or 5 cloves of garlic here. Now it's 2 very big cloves, I can live with that.
Of course, it does depend on which kind of meal it is. But I'm of opinion it's perfect in paella!
@trinsec
It's amazing that Netherlands is a garlic exporter. Never thought any farming remained in that small drowning land ![]()
Don't know about getting green garlic leaves but you do can fry and eat the garlic bulb. Nothing to do, just directly fry the garlic cloves without removing their covering.
Also don't worry, frying removes their strong taste ![]()
@mur2501 Wait, what? We're a garlic exporter? Heh, didn't know that.
@trinsec
It seems so according to some lists, though you are not in the list of significant producers of agriculture ![]()

Can't really understand the agricultural section
Your country makes 1/3 of world's chillis?
@trinsec
Maybe Dutch economy doesn't work on logic?
Also you will be underwater in a century so just replace the weed with some seaweed ![]()
@mur2501
Then we'll become a beach resort. :P
I've always wanted a house at the water!
@trinsec
I don't think the cold waters of Netherlands is a good place for a beach resort.
@mur2501 Even better! More space for me!
Though with the climate change I'm sure we'll get warmer eventually, even though we'll get cold feet! :P
@mur2501
Lessee..
"One-third of the world's exports of chilis, tomatoes and cucumbers goes through the country. The Netherlands also exports one-fifteenth of the world's apples."
Looks like the world decided en-masse to trade through us. We don't farm this. 🌍
"Aside from that, a significant portion of Dutch agricultural exports consists of fresh-cut plants, flowers, and flower bulbs, with the Netherlands exporting two-thirds of the world's total."
Here it looks like we mostly personally export flower-related stuff. 🌷
A little bit back...
"The Dutch rank first in the European Union and second worldwide in value of agricultural exports, behind only the United States"
We're known as a nation of traders since about the 17th century, clearly hasn't changed now. :) 🥈
But it is true. Most of our farmers are creating food for export. That's why we have to import good for us. I'm not sure either where the logic is.
