they don't seem to make movies like Forrest Gump, The Truman Show or The Sixth Sense anymore. it seems to be all superhero and fantasy movies now. at least that's what i see them advertise everywhere.

a lot of 90s movies were about having realistic worlds where extraordinary things happened to ordinary people.

with superheroes and fantasy, it's the opposite. the characters and/or settings are purposefully unrealistic and there's CG in every shot. such movies feel a bit plasticky to me.

"feeling plasticky" is a bit of a vibe of the post-2000 era, isn't it? everything's polished and digital. i think this is why the hipster aesthetic exists. it's the stark opposite of futurism.

@trinsec
Nah I am talking about the many who just came and left
@freemo

@freemo
That reminds me, are the twitter migration people all gone?

@trinsec
BTW I was reading Bill Bryson's travel novel about Europe. Chapter on Amsterdam is currently going on, he has very beautiful things to say about the Dutch :P

someone called Mastodon as Macedonia
(They came from Twitter)

@chiasm
Nah this people are from way back before the twitter mass migrations. At that time Fediverse wasn't that much known to twitter folks.

So many people I talked to here have left Fediverse

West of the Western Ghats, the ghats block all the rainy clouds coming from the Arabian Sea. We get all the rain, people beyond the ghat gets none :P

@rae
I think there is also the book
'Britain's Birds: An Identification Guide to the Birds of Britain and Ireland'
it is full of pictures so would be easy to identify birds

@rae
I have the pages saved offline in the wikipedia app

@rae
I sometimes just use wikipedia's 'List of Birds in <country>' pages for this :P
