What am I doing wrong re: searching. if I enter in a hash tag manually like or something like that, I get no results.

@ner this is odd, works for me... you on a special client?

Well, it's supposed to be an accessible one. Should try using a "normal" client and see if searching works better. Was trying to search on the web--I figured out that I can do the searching on the web now, prob seems to be that I'm having problems finding teh follow button when I click a hash tag. I searched for and couldn't follow it. Once I get approved on mastodon.radio with my call, I'll try there adn see if it's an instance issue.

@ner Mastodon in general is just having a bit of trouble tonight it seems. You may not be doing anything wrong at all.

@zkline it’s because my instance is running quite an old version of mastodon

@ner @zkline Actually, we don't have 'versions' per se on Qoto. This is a Mastodon fork and the version number isn't representative at all anymore.

Considering that others don't really have this issue doesn't seem to indicate that it is a Qoto-wide issue.

We're due to an upgrade sometime soon though since Mastodon 4 just got released.

@trinsec @zkline Yep, I see that. I'm just trying to determine how to follow hash tags with a screen reader. Love the instance, but perhaps a more plain vanilla intsance would be better from a screen reader perspective. I'm going to play with it.

@ner @zkline
Ah, I don't have experience with screen readers so I'm afraid I can't help you out there. But you can always try to create an alt account somewhere to see what it's like over there. I wish you luck with finding the sweet spot!

@trinsec @zkline Thanks so much. I'm still pecking around on qoto. This is such a different experience than Twitter--much more engaging and friendly people.
