it's impossible to change radio button values on intances.social with JAWS. Not sure what that's all about.

@borrisinabox I noticed the tabs, but didn't see the compose button on the bottom right above tabs. I'll hunt again. Magic tap would be helpful but it's not necessary.

@trinsec @zkline Thanks so much. I'm still pecking around on qoto. This is such a different experience than Twitter--much more engaging and friendly people.

@borrisinabox Found it interesting that the hash tag was trending earlier today. We need to get trending some day.

@borrisinabox I think it's really cool. I have way more interesting reading on here than I ever did on Twitter. Used to use it only for news and junk

@borrisinabox The web isn't too hard to use I suppose. Downloaded metatext and It's fine for what it does. I do wish it had an easier way to freaking compose a post.

@borrisinabox@mastodon.socialI'm waiting an approval. Looking forward to it. I don't see a point in joining like three or four, but for highly specialized stuff, it'll be good. Are you using tweesecake for windows?

@borrisinabox Yep, fair enough. I'd like a more manageable local timeline, so want to stay away from that one. We'll see where I land. Did apply for mastodon.social with callsign, lots of people on there.

@borrisinabox So why the big mastodon.social? Thinking of moving to a different one myself--qoto uses a forked instance and I think it'll read better if I'm somewhere else. They have done some cool things re: customization though.Able to open local timelines from other places etc. You can do this with other sites as well, so I wouldn't be missing much there.

@trinsec @zkline Yep, I see that. I'm just trying to determine how to follow hash tags with a screen reader. Love the instance, but perhaps a more plain vanilla intsance would be better from a screen reader perspective. I'm going to play with it.

users, is there a special shortcut or better way to get to the post toot button besides flicking left from the bottom strip?

@freemo yep I’m aware. I just didn’t have the ability to follow hash tags. That’s a new development in mastodon chronology. Not an accessibility thing.

@zkline it’s because my instance is running quite an old version of mastodon

@freemo Looks as if the follow issue I had is due to the version qoto is using. I the reason why qoto doesn't upgrade due to the custom code that we use?

I'll tell you one thing, Twitter disaster/impending doom has made me more active on social networking than I've ever been. Is this the same as when people would hang out in underground stations during the blitz and talk ... about everything? Will this be how the apocalypse goes down?

Noel Romey boosted

We need a mascot. We should call him Boosty McBoostFace. AI artists GO!

@volkan It's working--I think I'm going to like it here.

@freemoOnly thing for me re: being sad is that I have friends there--not too many followers, but still friends. Now that I'm starting to understand how mastodon works though, I'm really enjoying the community aspsect of the networks/intsances.

Well, it's supposed to be an accessible one. Should try using a "normal" client and see if searching works better. Was trying to search on the web--I figured out that I can do the searching on the web now, prob seems to be that I'm having problems finding teh follow button when I click a hash tag. I searched for and couldn't follow it. Once I get approved on mastodon.radio with my call, I'll try there adn see if it's an instance issue.
