@Ibleedblue @flexghost @jeff there's more actual evidence of right wing people pleading guilty to committing election fraud. Once again, it's projection from their side to ours.

The Intel 8086 was released in 1978, starting the x86 line that still dominates computing. I'm reverse-engineering the chip by studying the silicon die, and I think I've spotted a bug fix in the silicon. They didn't have microcode updates then so they patched the silicon. ๐Ÿงต

@chandima Favorite can be used like that, but you can also review your favorites. So you could use it like that, like a private tip jar to the author to let them know you liked the toot, or you could use it like Internet Explorer used favorites, like bookmarks. We don't have to all use it the same way. However, do keep in mind that Favoriting is a much more private affair than it was on Twitter. Only you and the author see it.

@tuckerteague it would be best to use it like a web browser bookmark. Because you can go back and look at your favorites. Yes, the author will see that you favorited it. But we won't see on a timeline how many people favorited it. If your intent was simply more exposure for the toot, it's best to reply to it, with relevant hashtags, it'll help Federate it better.

@mjgardner I literally just read an article today about how DMs at Twitter were not encrypted, either. Even if you delete them, there isn't a guarantee it's deleted until the other party ALSO deletes the message. So, with way less staff on the Twitter payroll, there's way less check and balances over there to see that Elmo isn't abusing that ability.

Elon Musk says he'll make his own phone if Google and Apple de-platform him: gizmodo.com/elon-musk-alternat

I'd LOVE to see him try. (iOS has been developing since 2005-ish, and Android for even longer; the only way he'll get a software stack is to use Android as a platform or buy in a cheap also-ran from China. Either path is a quick way to lose a few billion dollars more without shipping a useable product. A dozen billion here, a dozen billion there, pretty soon it's all gone ...)

I agree with this 100%

There is no "stay and fight" on Twitter. If you're there, you're grumbling under your breath at a Nazi rally and calling it "resistance"

To whom it may concern,

The expression is

"I couldn't care less"

In other words, I care so little about (blank) that it IS IMPOSSIBLE for me to care even less.

"I could care less" means I actually care enough that it IS possible to care less

For your first day on Mastodon, just a few humbly suggested steps! Welcome to the party!

1) Consider if you're on the server for you, your hobbies, and your moderation desires. You can always migrate your account, later. docs.joinmastodon.org/user/mov

2) Make a profile! These can be longer than Twitter ones - and you can format them with line breaks, italics (using asterix), and loads of emoji. Check the emoji on your server, here! emojos.in/

3) If you liked who you followed on Twitter, use debirdify.pruvisto.org/ and/or fedifinder.glitch.me/ to create a csv of all the people you followed there to upload into Mastodon, using the web menu option Preferences > Import. Now you are following the same folks!

4) Using debirdify.pruvisto.org/, you can also export your Twitter blocklist, and import it using the same function in Mastodon.

5) Create an introduction post! Use lots of hashtags to help people find you and your interests, as there's no algorithm or string search function here. Make sure to add the hashtag introduction!

6) Get used to using hashtags in your posts regularly, so that people can find them manually or using the hashtag following function, or the rss feed function.

7) Use CWs liberally, to help people decide what to see. Follow your server's guidelines, but definitely CW those movie spoilers!

8) Use alt text in your images whenever possible, to help people with screen readers enjoy it here, too!

9) Enjoy your new community, and have a lot of fun!

Give me a boost! Maybe if I can show some of the big accounts on Twitter that itโ€™s possible to grow sizably and quickly here, too, theyโ€™ll migrate over!
