Why is it twilight
When endings come a-burning
That we reflect most?

You were hard as stone
Facing terrors of the world
I hardly held on

A year comes closing
Steady carrying the beat
Ticking down the clock

Downing one more glass
I shout, "be the drunk you want
To see in the world"

Youth has a shining
Eyes and skin are luminous
And dimming with age

New year's eve shopping
Clothing, clothing everywhere
Not a shirt doth fit

All of life is pain
Without end or escape, but
Some is beautiful

No light without dark
No hero without harrow
Balance rules us all

Isn't it funny
Add an infant to the room
TV is forgot

Cold wind finding cracks
Bright sun breaking through curtains
A good day to sleep

Ritual terror
Passed on each generation
Photo with Santa

The joy of baking
Was never in the kitchen
It's in the shopping

I was beautiful
The mirror has forgotten
But I never will

Cursed with healing touch
Watching my loved ones flourish
While cancer eats me

For two nights, I've dreamt
A llama in a goose flock
Does it mean something?

Fog settles on me
Hazy malaise of burnout
A fatigue I can't shake

Belly up, old friend
Pour out your trials and triumphs
I'll pour a cold one

It's simple pleasures
Dinner, drinks, a game with friends
That bring joy to life

Lonely drunk is bad
But doesn't approach when you
Eat raclette alone

"I'm leaving," she says
It's been over for months now
But today she leaves
