Noting that if such a proposal was to turn up in the U.S. (and it has), it would violate the First, Fourth, Sixth, and perhaps, more amendments of the Constitution.

patrick-breyer.de/en/posts/cha Reposting this since someone was curious about it.

Frankly, I would go further than him and not mince words.

It's a threat to privacy, free expression, and due process. Full stop.

It should be scrapped.

Looked at my feed and saw a post regarding a new "transgender suicide hotline" which sounds very depressing in it's own right.

It feels very strange watching old psy videos and them using words like "retardation" with a straight face.

@ech @freemo Oh, I see. It was another one. But, be careful.

It's not unusual for someone to use dramatic language. In a number of cases, someone might make claims about content which isn't even in a book.

Apparently, the Dutch Government has joined the fediverse, joining the German one and the E.U.

@ech @freemo Well, that's a bit misleading, I think it was someone's memoir with scenes where they did some sexual acts with peers.

@freemo @ech @PBruce The "don't say gay" bill is very similar to the infamous British Section 28.

bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/cac You can read about it here.

Section 28 was enacted by the Conservative Party (the same people who came up with Brexit) and was repealed by Labour in 2003.

It's interesting to see the "30 million images of child porn" claim being revived, again, when we know that:

1) The same ten images, slightly modified, make up the majority of these numbers. Facebook told us this.

2) Switzerland reported 90% of the reports handed to them were not that. Ireland reported 75% were not.

3) Many reports are reported to involve "memes", "satire", and "bad humor".

4) Nearly half of investigations turn out to just involve teens sexting with each other.

What do you think of the Open App Markets Act? (This is an old post, they're not calling for a vote on it right now.)

@trinsec If you hear faint sounds going "Exterminate!" coming out of your Roomba, run.

@freemo To give you an idea of how populist he is:

He went on about how he'd shoot drug smugglers on the border.

He went on about how he'd blockade Mexico with the navy to "stop the flow of drugs".

He went on about abolishing unanimous juries to administer the death penalty.

He wants to expand use of the death penalty outside of murder.

Censorship of books in libraries.

Censorship of views in higher education.

He talks big about all that tough on crime stuff.

Lots of talk about the border and "finishing the wall".

@freemo Nah, he's still very bad, and I doubt he's doing anything out of principles, but populism.
