The title of this thread is called "Angry Black Women".

On January 20, 2017 this picture was my Facebook avatar. It is Michelle Obama at the inauguration of the 45th president. About a month later, a white female person I know texted me "Can you change your avatar photo, now." Which I did. The following is a selection of the Angry Black Women avatars I used since. These Angry Black Women changed out lives for the better.

I have been visiting McGill University in Montreal this semester. No matter where in the world I go, there is one thing about Denmark that seems to always blow people's minds:

Higher education is not only free — you get paid to study. At the university level, #students receive a monthly stipend of around 900 USD. It might be the single one thing about my home country I am most excited about.

Oh, also, all #phd candidates are salaried employees. 🤷

Ich würde einer Mastodon-Instanz beitreten, in der man seinen Followern und Followerinnen nur noch mitteilt, wenn sich die eigene Meinung geändert hat.

/2 und, nein, ich bin Teams-Hater, habe monatelang für eine Bundesoberbehörde die Lage geprüft. Microsoft bestätigt in ernsthaften Gesprächen auch, dass es (Stand Januar, als ich das Mandat hatte), fünf Services gibt, die gg DSGVO verstossen. Das ist kein Geheimnis.

Finde die meisten Reaktionen auf die Flughafenbesetzung wesentlich durchgeknallter als die Besetzung, und das ist das ja.

Finde bei den Fediverse-Diskussionen schon auffällig, dass es doch nur Technik sein soll. Dabei gibt sehr wohl Soziales: gemeinsame Grundideen, faktische Kooperation und den Willen, sich an Standards zu halten.

Es ist absurderweise die Web3-Debatte, nur seitenverkehrt.

So seems the latest wave of stupid on the internet is to claim that the deaths in 2020 were no more than in 2018, 2019 or other past years, which apparently means the coronavirus is a hoax or some such nonsense.

Nevermind the fact that there isn't an iota of truth anywhere in that nonsense. The number of deaths in 2020 is significantly higher than past years. In fact even though we only have data up to the beginning of december and 2 weeks of that is incomplete/delayed.. therefore we have about 6 weeks of data yet to be finalized. Despite that we are hundreds of thousands more deaths ahead of 2019 and 2018, by about 300,000 more so far. Hell the death rate is increased even if you **dont count** COVID by more than 1.2%...

Here is a crazy idea, instead of getting your knowledge base from random internet memes how about trying some research from time to time maybe? It isnt like its hard to find the real numbers.

Anyway, as far as I know this is the first time the fediverse has had an open, managed group server.

QOTO also has the group directory. Attached is what the group directory, and a group timeline looks like on QOTO, but we did some streamlining, your client may render groups differently and most wont have the directory, which is a federated list of active groups.

Anyway, anyone who wants a group, go sign up for one! Its open now!
