I'm continuing to play Horizon Zero Dawn. The writing and voice acting are a bit bland compared with Baldur's Gate 3, but the controls and animations are silky smooth, including riding a mount through complicated terrain.

I think this was accomplished through some subtle decisions such as having a world almost devoid of doors; when you do go through a door, it happens in a cutscene.

The heroine's rappelling technique is absurdly over the top: jump off the cliff, spin around in the air, *then* throw the grappling hook at the place whence you just jumped.

It's definitely a "learn to become a badass" game, through player skill as well as in-game character improvements and gear.

@gvwilson None of your procedures ever return values, or your software just doesn't work?

When you read about Old Nick, it's surprising to learn that he would later go on to be sainted.

Remember that as days get colder animals are attracted to the warmth of of cars, so check wheel arches and other hiding places.

Note to marketing: do not use "something I saw on Black Mirror" as a positive selling point...

There should be more actual play podcasts / video series that focus on teaching the rules of the (non-D&D game) as much as on the story / acting.
