Why, in 2019, does YouTube not have the ability to read out subtitles with text-to-speech?
It’s text.
It’s out of band.
Text-to-speech is trivial.
Currently, I have no way to understand a video in another language with English subtitles because I can’t see them.

Dear friends on Twitter, this is @AdamBaldwin@twitter.com. Apparently, he at some point was an actor. I do not recall him. He's been harassing me all day claiming I am exploiting my daughter for simply being honest about the reality of gun violence. Sad that such pathetic people exist. twitter.com/AdamBaldwin/status

On the upside, the amount of quality content you get is staggering and the basic display of text works cleanly. If you want to read, it's great. If you want to take notes or discuss with another human, not so much.

The navigation doesn't work correctly either. This does not bode well.

I'm very excited to be able to tell my students, "Join @TheOfficialACM@twitter.com for $19 and you get all of the @OReillyMedia@twitter.com books online!" I'm less excited about O'Reilly's UI: notes don't work properly and there's no pagination! Digital books should be MORE functional than paper.
