Heptapod 0.12.0 has been released earlier this week, featuring a huge #GitLab base version jump and more..
Putting together some notes on subtests: anyone have some particularly good examples? Particularly if you use pytest-subtests.
@AugierLe42e @toast @bitecode It's explained in great detail in that link.
I was not involved in PEP 517/518, but as a maintainer of setuptools trying to migrate people to setup.cfg, I am constantly annoyed by INI files.
There are tons of upsides to putting this entirely new thing (it doesn't replace anything that has ever existed in setup.cfg) in a TOML file. The only downside is "some people might need to add a new file to their projects or rename an existing file." That is not a high price to pay.
@AugierLe42e @bitecode So the suggestion is to invent a new format instead of using a popular, well designed one that solves some of the biggest pain points with the existing configuration?
@AugierLe42e @bitecode
pyproject.toml is not an alternative to setup.py.
There is an extensive discussion of why rejecting setup.cfg in PEP 518: https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0518/#other-file-formats
From my experience writing INI files, they are surprisingly hard to use.
We know there's a lot of competition in this space, and appreciate your continued patronage of dateutil.easter.
P.S. The bug that that sometimes summons Lagothroptor the Forgotten has been recently fixed, so don't forget to upgrade!
Not sure when Easter is this year? Try dateutil.easter - the module that tells you when Easter is!
@skunksarebetter I randomly generate a short string, different every time I install a new OS.
@toast Indeed, smart enough to organize a world-wide conspiracy to reclaim the world's cities!
Why was "coronavirus disease" shortened to "COVID" and not "CORVID"? I suspect the influence of Big Crow.
unfiltered but probably okay
@offby1 Standard library always works well for me.
@bitecode That's "not even wrong". pyproject.toml and setup.cfg are complements, not competitors.
It's like saying, "You shouldn't use tires, you should use axles!" They serve entirely different purposes.

I read this book this morning. There are a few minor quibbles that I have with it, but otherwise there are a ton of great cases for open borders in here.
