@bitecode Neither are reversible. The human is a normal human with memories of being a frog and no other memories. They have the equivalent human characteristics relative to the human population that they had relative to the frog population, so if they are a particularly smart frog, they will be a particularly smart human.
They do not know human languages or culture, but they can learn these things.

Me: Oh, I have tons! First: would you rather be able to turn people into frogs, or frogs into people?

I was not involved in PEP 517/518, but as a maintainer of setuptools trying to migrate people to setup.cfg, I am constantly annoyed by INI files.
There are tons of upsides to putting this entirely new thing (it doesn't replace anything that has ever existed in setup.cfg) in a TOML file. The only downside is "some people might need to add a new file to their projects or rename an existing file." That is not a high price to pay.
@AugierLe42e @bitecode So the suggestion is to invent a new format instead of using a popular, well designed one that solves some of the biggest pain points with the existing configuration?

pyproject.toml is not an alternative to setup.py.

From my experience writing INI files, they are surprisingly hard to use.
