Dear #Americans of #Mastodon, you have a wonderful opportunity that is rarely granted to you. For the first time, you're in an online public space that is not American, that is not centered around the US, and as I'm typing this, a place where the majority of users are not Americans. You can open yourselves to the world as you've rarely been able to before.

So please, stop expressing yourselves like the US is the default country here and that most users are Americans. We're not. Love.

I have just finished rolling out the Python version of the R package 'statcheck", created by prof. Michèle Nuijten.

Statcheck can be used to extract and analyze statistical results from scientific articles.

Currently working on adding the option to extract tables.

Hi Everyone! Another Twitter (@LauraAzolla) deserter here, hoping to do some science networking online via an alternative route. I'm a scientist, lecturer, climber, sailor and photographer. GPT-3 is going to make finding quality information on the internet a nightmare. The generated text will look good to search engines, and garbage sites that rely on SEO for clicks will just have GPT-3 write about whatever the big topics of the day are. This could even be easily automated.

@UlrikeHahn Agree. This is the US way of dealing with these situations. Manage the reputation, do not have the difficult conversation about what actually went wrong and how to prevent it in the future. This is not really an example of vision and leadership from APS and it is likely detrimental to future editorships.

I couldn't help but feel that #XKCD 1269 was relevant to the #selfhosted #Mastodon #fediverse.
