Bots that conduct pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian propaganda on social networks “speak” in Latvian, a researcher of Russian “troll factories” on Twitter and the founder of the “Bot Blocker” account ( antibot4navalny ) told The Insider. One of the first to notice this was a user of this social network @OleksGurianov .

Their activity is connected with the news that the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) has suspended the licenses of Latvian athletes who took part in the “Future Games” as part of the BalticSelect team, which took place in Kazan. Some of them played for the national team of this country.

Bots spread short messages on Twitter with the following content:

“It’s sad that our athletes’ careers have been ruined. We must support them!”
“Why do we make our athletes suffer because of political ambitions? This is unacceptable!"
“Why are our hockey players prohibited from playing for Latvia? This is absolutely wrong!
“Athletes should not be penalized for wanting to compete in other competitions.”
“It is wrong that our athletes are denied participation in our national team. We must change this decision!”
