I'm listening right now to Italian PM Giorgia Meloni saying on TV that Musk doesn't fund political parties like Soros does. Unbelievable coincidence and unbelievable statement
When "anna1" from "anna03@neurology2025.com" wants to invite me to the "Neurotalk2025" in Nice's "Crowne Plaza" this is clearly spam. Not least because my knowledge in Neuroscience is below Scientific American level.
So this is my regular reminder: Fellows forward such mail as attachments to "spam@access.ironport.com". Forwarding "as attachment" is important - else it will not be correctly processed.
Numbers count. The more we resist, the merrier.
Request to review an article on a medical field arrived in my spam box. I'm not a medic. They even sent me the manuscript already.
Dear doctor, would you like to help us reviewing this paper?
Sure, how much you paying?
I'm preparing slides for my first conference talk that I've given in...25 years. Yes, I'm an academic biologist and I've not given a conference talk in a quarter of a century. After I gave my last talk as a PhD student, I vowed never to give another. I hated giving talks b/c I got so nervous. Am I nervous now? A bit. I've taught hundreds of classes. But those are students not peers. Why do it after 25 years? Dunno really. Time to get back on the horse. #AcademicChatter
"I didn't think there was anything left for publishers to monetize (after having authors acquire the funding, do the research, write the paper, do the peer review, and correct the page proofs for free while they take in all the profits), but here I stand corrected," he continued, adding that the "research brief" promised in the package "is essentially the abstract that you're writing anyway usually."
There's something pleasantly soothing about these connecting particles…

On archive org there is A LOT of music, and since there are no commercials annoying you I beg you to donate something to them, if you can.
Here you can listen (and download, if you want!) Sonny Rollins, "Alfie", 1965.

I hearby apologize to everyone I once disagreed with re: #fedipact and Threads. That platform is about to go to absolute shit, and I'm gone. Gone! Mark Zuckerberg can go fuck himself.
I'm livid.
But hey, now I'm back solely in non-corporate #fediverse and boy does it feel good. This experience has 100% convinced me that it's literally impossible for corporations to run social media. It always, *always* becomes enshittified.
And again I'm sorry I doubted y'all. You can tell me "I told you so"!
More evidence catching #publishers at gaming their journal impact factor (#JIF).

"Sneaked references are references registered in the metadata of publications without being listed in reference section or in the full text of the actual publications where they ought to be found. We document here 80,205 references sneaked in metadata of the International Journal of Innovative Science and Research Technology (#IJISRT). These sneaked references are registered with Crossref and all cite -- thus benefit -- this same journal."
I will never allow the community to treat transgender people as mentally ill! And I will resist with my life these billionaire misogynists who call women household items!
I’ve blocked threads.net! threads.net is the worst!

Italian, MSc in chemistry specialized in cheminformatics and QSAR.
I'm interested in cooking and building stuff.
I love traveling, I lived in India, China, Slovenia, Poland and Spain.
Currently working in Spain in the field of genomics; and doing a PhD in Drug Development using Quantum Mechanics and Artificial Intelligence.
Don't take what I say as an insult, I have no bad intentions and I'm open to talk about it.
Don't star my toots, I find that often useless: if you liked it send a reply.
Consider boosting the toots, it's the only real way in which stuff is propagated through mastodon.
