when you overexpose night photos and you have a lot of moon light and no artificial light you get pictures which look like they are taken on a sunny day - just with stars.

To buy the correct USB-C cable, you need to take a 6-month course in cablology. Insane.

The "delete and re-draft" feature on Mastodon is really brilliant.

All of which is to say I need to do some more blogging that justifies having this keyboard and using it for something other than snark on birdsite.

For posting here, it's great to have this keyboard... But, I do feel the keyboard needs a little more work. There's a nack to typing quickly on it. Most of the time I get it but there are still missed keypresses as the key tilts rather than presses. But, it's a cracking piece of kit for a small company's first crowd funded product.

I backed the Planet Computers Gemini on Indiegogo and having used it for a few months I'm not quite sure what I think of it. I love having a physical keyboard, which is what this device is all about. I don't like Android, so waiting to see what Jolla bring with sailfish in the coming months. Things have moved on so far since I used a Psion 5MX back in the day, but this device form factor does still make sense to me. It complements rather than replaces my iphone.

mildly nsfw, Paleolithic nudes compared to modern nudes

This is so, so amazing. Evidence that #Paleolithic #Venus statues were basically carved by women as self-portraits. #womensart Source: gowns.tumblr.com/post/16712883

I’ve just heard Jacob Rees-mogg described as a “ludicrous haunted pencil” and it’s just perfect.

Very sorry to inform Buzzfeed that I am a man and that they would have known this if they asked to put my tweet in the article first

Spent today hanging with relatives, and ended up going to a German beer festival with my 93yo grandfather. I honestly find it hard to deal with the idea of how old he is: he's healthy (if a very slow walker), pretty sharp mentally, and full of stories like going to French Algeria before shit got wild or wandering around a stable, unified Yugoslavia. I really enjoy talking to him, but there's such a gulf between our life experiences that it can feel like hard work to find common ground

I want scifi films in which there is a vibrant, detailed, complex universe with plenty of background lore, but is about, say, a teenage girl finding her lost cat, or a group of socially awkward queers starting a band, or middle aged single homos finding love, or a pair of friends (one human and one alien) going on a camping trip where nothing bad happens.
