Someone asked me if this "jailbreaking" of ChatGPT's safeguards is real, so I tried it out (with a more recent iteration of the prompt I found) and yes, it is. I didn't want to try anything too horrific, but it told me the best way to steal a car and bully a teenage girl, and also wrote erotic fanfiction about Batman. (ChatGPT originally refused the latter on the grounds of both explicit content AND copyright infringement...) https://kotaku.com/chatgpt-ai-openai-dan-censorship-chatbot-reddit-1850088408
The hemibrain videos and images were created with neuVid (github.com/connectome-neuprint/neuVid). Here are some tutorials that show how to use it to make videos of your own. (3/3)

Happy birthday to the "hemibrain", a #Drosophila #neuroscience data set released by #HHMIJanelia on January 22, 2020. At that time it was the largest synaptic-level #connectome ever reconstructed, the result of years of hard work by the FlyEM team, led by Steve Plaza, and collaborators at Google. (1/3)
Great talk from Ed Wasserman today on the analogical abilities of different animal species. Prompted a very interesting discussion on how same/different tasks can be solved in different ways. E.g., comprehending differences in perceptual entropy vs conceptual understanding of same/different.

Science has an award paradox problem—you often need awards to get awards. 🏆 -> 🏆 -> 🏆
Those that get dumptrucked with awards aren't necessarily more worthy either: “winners just above the funding threshold accumulate more than twice as much funding during the subsequent eight years as nonwinners with near-identical review scores that fall just below the threshold.”

Aurora borealis on Jupiter, imaged by the Hubble telescope on Sept 29, 2022.
See the odd, comet-like streak at right? That's the magnetic imprint of Jupiter's moon Io! Its volcanoes spew out fumes that create their own aurora display.
