To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

Related q: If I want to make a simple Mastodon bot, what is the most pleasant interface [Python or JavaScript/TypeScript preferred, Ruby… tolerated when necessary] for doing so? I found a list (https://docs.joinmastodon.org/client/libraries/#javascript) of libs, and there's one for Python and like... four for JS. Can anyone give an endorse/"ugh stay away" for any of those?
Also, what instance(s) are friendliest to hosting bots (and/or which bots-allowed instances are least likely to witches.town me)? I found a "botsin.space"…

Just a few years ago, the wholesale blocking of social media and messaging platforms would have been almost impossible in Russia, where the internet infrastructure is sprawling and complex, with hundreds of internet service providers and many points of contact with global networks. But over the past five years, the government of Vladimir Putin has created a sophisticated infrastructure of internet control, built partly with commercially available tools, that has allowed the state to block social media, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, inside Russia and to disrupt circumvention tools like VPNs, Tor, and the web proxy software Psiphon.

@rastinza Basically it's all about studying people as they interact with environments, goods, and/or services to fulfill their needs, with the ultimate objective of optimizing their experiences. UX actually means "user experience". You would definitely find this field fascinating since you design UI.

@trinsec I got late into the game so Rohan was like launched years before. For some reason the grind was okay for me, but maybe because I had time then. I agree, Moria was really something, and I think they tried to recapture the same feeling in the latest expansion since it's Gundabad.
@trinsec Wildstar's housing system was really good too, almost like EQ2. Lotro still uses housing hooks but you now have leeway on where to put stuff. There are more neighborhoods too. I actually just got back, it's the 15th anniversary this year. Lots of goodies, they are giving away collector's editions of expansions up to Mordor. Oh, and every quest, instance, and expansion up to Helm's Deep is now free. You should log back in at least just to get everything.
@memoryassociate Good times. Never really good at it but spent most of my time playing wvw exclusively. Hopefully more people play once the Alliances update drops.

@rpf Before the pandemic hit, it was normal for me to wake up at 3:30 AM. Things have changed, now I wake up at 4:30 AM instead.

We do NOT have such a thing! Mastodon and the Fediverse is mainly about a social experience with a good privacy system. This includes to keep as less (sensitive) data as we can on every one of you!
We are no Twitter, we do not want personal documents or data! Everyone on Mastodon is the same "rank". There are many other ways people can prove who they are by posting from their Twitter for example! 
Please, do not send any personal data to us, we will delete this right away. Privacy first! 🔒
If you do want a verified icon, you can simply add a custom emoji in your display name with a shortcode
