Day 024 in #100DaysToOffload and I contemplate content.
@design_RG Many thanks! Hard going some days, but as an exercise in focus it is wonderful for self-discipline. 🙂
Day 023 in #100DaysToOffload and i recognise that I stand on the shoulders of giants.
@freddyym they say 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.' But in some cases it is just plain plagiarism. Disappointing you are not getting the credit you have earned, but the universe rebalances in time. I am sure it will for you too.
But great news your blog is so good people are desperate for its content.
@basil ‘diversifying exposure.’ I love it and think it nearly summarises where most people will likely end up.
Day 022 in #100DaysToOffload and I contemplate taking a day of rest.
@basil yes, more and more hosting providers are offering NextCloud as a one click install these days, much like Wordpress.
@basil I feel your pain. I have found that the photos app alternatives are really just windows to a folder, rather than dedicated albums etc. which can be saved and shared. I ended up migrating to Smugmug as the mobile app is very good and I can sub-folder and album to my hearts content in a buttery smooth and reliable graphical interface.
I too want a brave new world, but I want it to be beautiful and functional too.
@basil is it a ‘stress of managing your own server’ thing or just that Google Photos is, if we ignore its privacy issues, a great photo app?
If the former, most cloud storage services support photo syncing these days. I’m currently using Tresorit, but Mega and Sync are cheaper alternatives.
Day 021 of #100DaysToOffload and I am disturbed to think about airbrushing memory.
Google Drive takes down user’s personal copy of Judy Mikovits’ Plandemic after it was flagged by The Washington Post

@Decentralize_today as a historian this concerns me greatly. Archives are filled with documents that need to be researched regardless of their veracity and removing documents from the public record is akin to rewriting history. A dangerous road to take, no matter how much you may abhor the movement in question.
Yet another reason why E2EE is necessary to maintain healthy discourse.
Day 020 in #100DaysToOffload and I ask you to please keep scrolling.
