@freemo
Yes "low infection rates" correlate very nicely with practically non-existent testing.
@freemo
I'm not talking about propaganda. I'm talking about his daily press conferences. From the horses mouth comes only horse shit.
@freemo
All I can guess is that you're not seeing the same things over there that we are here. Exemplary is the last word I'd use.
Wow. From "worst president ever" to "But I must admit, he has done an amazing job handling the coronavirus so far."
You're giving him credit for already having completed enumerated points.
I might give you #4, because it seems his administration has approved, even though they haven't yet followed through.
#5, I have to say, WTF???
He has issued no such checks, and when/if he does, I've seen statements indicating it'll be based upon income which is definitely not "universal."
Also he has said, "It'll be more than that. Much more."
Then I see rumors of $1200.
To me 20% isn't the "much more" hinted at by his vocal vehemence, particularly when the senate rumors just before that were for $1000 per month for two months.
I've been particularly unimpressed by his handling of COVID-19. He's on network teevee every single day, each day walking back what he said the previous day.
@freemo
4 and 5 are claims he's made, not anything we have any evidence of.
@dicktripover Also, here's a quote you might find useful:
You do not examine legislation in the light of the benefits it will convey if properly administered, but in the light of the wrongs it would do and the harm it would cause if improperly administered. -- Lyndon B. Johnson, former President of the U.S.
@freemo
Haven't you heard? All the gun stores are empty. No guns left. No ammo left. You're about a week too late.
A bit of perspective.
As of 2018 one-quarter of the world's population is thought to be infected with TB.[6] New infections occur in about 1% of the population each year.[12] In 2017, there were more than
10 MILLION CASES
of active TB which resulted in
1.6 MILLION DEATHS.[7]
This makes it the number one cause of death from an infectious disease.
Do we see TB splashed all over the teevee and interwebs every minute of every day? Do we see panic buying over TB? Do we see governments flexing their authoritarianism over TB?
If our reaction to TB is something along the lines of boredom, our response to COVID-19 (in a rational world) should be nothing short of jubilation.
@nawwal
No fear here.
I don't know why they're blowing this thing out of proportion, but for a little perspective:
"In 2017, there were more than 10 million cases of active TB which resulted in 1.6 MILLION deaths.[7] This makes it the number one cause of death from an infectious disease.[7] "
Why does COVID create panic buying when the far serious threat of TB go ignored? Where is the 24/7 news coverage of TB spread and death?
How many deaths from COVID? Certainly <10,000. Adjust your COVID fear level to match the data.
@Shamar
Yabbut, people in that study dropped out and died. The tricky wording is *AFTER 6 days*. Bunch of them didn't make it 6 days.
Saw link to the study on hacker news. After reading, discarded.
@lordalveric
Who paid for that study?
Television address by Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands
Because secrecy is what's most needed right about now.
@SecondJon
Sure it's measurable. Count the fact-checks of his statements that comprise ignorance, lies, or confusion. Trump has the most, hands down.
Count the number of psychologists that have questioned a President's competence. No President has ever had as many as Trump.
YOUR women, huh? Are they aware you consider them chattel? Bet if they were, they wouldn't be "yours" for long!
😀
@mngrif
You could set a filter that operates on a specific word (or words?) within the post. Seems if it's something that objectionable, the filter wouldn't over-reach.
