Well, I've spent the last couple of days torn between YouTube and the brand-new #DefendTheOGL Discord trying to keep track of what is... apparently... #Hasbro #WotC trying to single-handedly destroy the entire fucking #ttrpg industry.

I'm not losing much, saved again by my own incompetence, but I'm retooling my own projects to never rely on the fruits of Hasbro's poisoned tree ever again.

@jtk hopefully they recognise the typical home connection is a /64 subnet, with possibly random outgoing address (compared to IPv4 which is usually a single NAT address).

#GitHub and #IPv6

"GitHub is gradually rolling out support for IPv6. As GitHub services continue to add IPv6 support, we will start recognizing IPv6 addresses of GitHub users. To prevent possible access interruptions, please ensure you have added any necessary IPv6 addresses to your IP allow list."

@dirtypeanut I like Dark Rites at Fort Dalton, an early Adventurer's League scenario, as it has some character hooks included.

Essentials Kit is best for new GMs, and small groups, as it includes lots of tools, and modular quests; but you need to create characters.

The various Starter Kits are much more pickup and play, and include pregenerated characters. The new Stormwreck Isle has a nice open choice of missions. (You won't finish the overall plot in 3H, just one mission; but that also sets up for future play).

For new players the Starter Kit pregens are a good place to start.

@alex I love PlatformIO as a great build platform for . For future instruction videos, I suggest encouraging secure programming and using MQTTS, i.e. always use TLS.

I've seen too many IoT issues that we need to work as an industry on shift left and encourage secure programming right from the start.

@wobweger @FranckLeroy it is more the other way around, i.e. expensive price causes high energy consumption -- the amount of energy consumed is based on capacity (difficultly automatically scales), and capacity based on what the reward is for processing, which is based on what fees people are willing to pay. For high fees paid means high energy usage (as it is proof of work); other systems, like use proof of stake where high fees means high $$$ stake ($$$ are fungible, so this takes away from the least productive alternative use; which is not necessarily energy like bitcoin)

Reading the old Player's Guide to Dragonlance as prep for when my wife runs the new campaign, and laughed when I came across this text on p105 describing the gods of magic and why Nuitari sounded so frightening: "The dark-haired child of Evil suffered from a throat impairment, which made him speak in hoarse whispers."

8. Favorite RPG for its art

There are lots of Rpgs with great art. But I love Eclipse Phase for its incredible setting and evocative art. And I love that their philosophy is to release everything via a Creative Commons license for non-commercial use.

Hello, Mastodon! First post, so… I’m Keith! I created Eberron for D&D, the card game Gloom, and now I’m making games with my company Twogether Studios, including Illimat, The Adventure Zone: Bureau of Balance, and Phoenix: Dawn Command. I love all forms of collaborative storytelling, and I have a pug named Ping who is always looking for trouble!

You should set up and run + in you environment. Benefits are that it allows only devices a way to connect to IPv4 only servers, and provides valuable experience with IPv6, with no downsides. It does mean that dual stack devices will use NAT64 instead of NAT44, but you are still using NAT either way (and IPv4 devices always have to use NAT). See my article for more details and network diagrams sgryphon.gamertheory.net/2022/

@jheath I have not played it, but Ironsworn has some good reviews / ratings and reads okay. ironswornrpg.com/

@lifeofguenter @nixCraft My ISP has offered IPv6 for my home connection for about 5 years now. Implemented dual stack for everything at work about 12 years ago. Sure wish the rest of the world would just migrate already. Anyone who has not yet migrated is holding the entire world back.

@davey_cakes nice!
