uni first day update
1) the group is too large
2) 75% can't draw to the standard I'd expect

From what I learned just this morning, I kind of doubt that I would ever really know the whole story. Getting kicked off of that many high profile services kind of hints there's more to the story than upsetting a few e-celebs.
Generally speaking, I consider that the freedom of speech or the press ought to be protected unless there is very good reason not to - the burden of proof ought to be on he who wishes to suppress the information.
Specific to this case, the fact that the anti-kiwi group has decided to focus on DDoS protection services makes me default dislike them. While legal suppression of speech is a nuanced topic, DDoS is not. Since around 2015 when large hosting providers gained the ability to protect against arbitrarily large packet floods, DDoS has become exclusively a weapon of the strong against the weak.
Secondly, whatever kids with Guy Faux masks want you to believe, DDoS uses hacked computers. Behind every packet flood there is somebody who thinks it is ok to make emails with puppy.jpg.exe attached and send them to unsuspecting grandmothers. They are categorically scum, and the people lobbying CF to drop kiwi know this and they know who they are associating with.
So basically what it comes down to is kiwifarms people I *might* not like, and anti-kiwifarms people I definitely don't like.
